Q.

“I’m trying to plan my trip for this year’s holiday season and I want to make sure we see the decorations. When does The Walt Disney World Resort typically put up its Christmas decorations and when are they taken down?”

A.

This is a great question!

The final night for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is November 1, 2015 this year. When the park closes that night, the Halloween decorations immediately begin to come down, and the Christmas decorations go up in their place. Cast Members must work quickly & magically adding Christmas decorations throughout the Parks and Disney Resorts each night.

The Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins on November 8, 2015 this year, so Cast Members don’t have a lot of time to transform the parks for Christmas. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is a separate ticketed event and tickets for MVMCP can book up quickly so if you haven’t already purchased your event tickets, then we would highly recommend it.

In the past the Christmas decorations begin to come down a couple of days after New Years Day, and are gone after the first week of January.

If you have never experienced Walt Disney World for the Holidays there has never been a better time to go!

Every year Disney really outdoes themselves with amazing Christmas displays covering just about every inch of Disney Property from Disney Parks and Resorts to Downtown Disney and Disney’s Boardwalk! If your checking-in during this Christmas Season, don’t miss out on the extra magic around Disney Resorts like the Victorian Style Gingerbread House at the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or stop by and see the Gingerbread Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort just off Disney’s Boardwalk. Each Resort has their own massive Christmas Tree Display and each has a unique way of celebrating so don’t miss out on the magic!

  1. We are heading to WDW in mid November and were hoping to see the giant gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian but I heard somewhere that the resorts don’t decorate until December 1st. Do you know if this is true?

  2. We were at WDW Nov 12-18, 2013. The gingerbread house was definitely up at GF on 11/16. We saw them building the Contemporary GB display earlier in the week. The resort decorations seem to be a longer process than the MK. I think Boardwalk’s weren’t up yet. But we had the lights display at Hollywood Studios, saw Santa Goofy at AK, etc..
