Summer is here and some of you are gearing up to head to the most magical place or are thinking of taking a summer vacation at Walt Disney World. If you are like me, you might have been on the fence at first, especially if you have heard the dreaded, “You are going during the summer?!” Why is that such a bad thing? Summer is when people take a vacation and may go to several different places. Walt Disney World is no different!
Let us start with the obvious; Yes, it is hot! However, that is no reason not to go. Guests visiting the most magical place on earth during this time just need to be aware of their surroundings and their bodies! Notice those changes that you are starting to become dehydrated and take frequent water breaks. For those of you that don’t know, there are plenty of places on property where you can ask for tap water in a cup and it is FREE. Take water bottles with you! Disney allows items in the park, so it is no secret a water bottle is one of the main items you should be bringing with you, invest in a solid water bottle that keeps your drink cold for hours.
Transitioning from one part of the park to the other but unsure of where to go? Take a break in the shade. There are plenty of places throughout the parks with benches and/or tables tucked away in a quiet shady area. Heck, sit on a wall if it is allowed. Take the time to really rest and relax so you don’t overexert yourself.
Another tip to make the most of your summer vacation at Walt Disney World is to hit the parks in the morning, head back to your hotel in the afternoon for a quick swim or nap, then visit the parks again towards the evening when it starts to become cooler.
Not interested in returning to your hotel or are staying off property and that is not an option. Reserving a Table Service meal during the afternoon is the perfect way to beat the heat. Restaurants are air-conditioned so you are getting two things in one, an air-conditioned break and food! Who doesn’t love partaking in a Disney table service meal? They are engaging, relaxing and fun all wrapped in one. It’s always a must-do for my family.
Speaking of air-conditioning, there are plenty of rides that have air-conditioning that can take up plenty of time. Plan to find rides such as Seas with Nemo and Friends or Pirates. You could also watch a show, those last a bit giving you the perfect break.
Lastly, head to the water parks! Head to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach that provides hours of fun for family members of all ages!
What are some ideas and activities that you do during the summer to beat the heat?
