At first one might think Disney is for kids and families, but it can be one of the most romantic places to spend your honeymoon at Disney. There is so much to see and do. So many new adventures to take with your new spouse. Ways to let loose and have fun. Laugh a little and enjoy your playful side. Disney had that romantic spark of magic when it comes to romance. It is what fairytales are made of.
My husband and I went to Disney on our honeymoon. We had the best time ever! It was my husband’s first time going to Disney; first time even in Florida. So my from my perspective it was really neat to watch him experiencing these things for the first time at Disney. I learned a lot about him during that trip. Haha! I probably shouldn’t mention this, but he was not one for big rides. So he had to trust me when I was bringing him on new rides. Trusting that I wouldn’t take him on anything too intense for him.
We just enjoyed each other’s company. Cutting loose and leaving our cares and worries at the door. There were so many people there, but it felt as if we were the only two people there at times. Being on our honeymoon the cast members made sure to make us feel that way as well.
I suggest you get your honeymoon pins, and of course your bride and groom Mickey Ears. This tells everyone you are on your honeymoon. Cast members love making special moments for honeymooners. One of my favorite magical moments would be when they would give us a whole cart for a ride to ourselves. It just made it feel a little more romantic to take the ride just the two of us. Sneak in a kiss or two, in a more private moment.
There are so many wonderful restaurant options. Every restaurant has its own theme. There are so many romantic ones to choose from. By now I’m sure you and your partner have certain favorite movies or themes that would pique your interest, so start there. Some of my top choices would be Chef De France, Le Cellar, Be our Guest, California Grill at sunset, and La Hacienda de San Angel during the Epcot forever Fireworks display. We had an amazing meal in Italy, at Tutto Italia on our honeymoon. It was a Bella Notte for sure, straight out of Lady and the Tramp.
Get a couples massage at one of the spas, such as Senses at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Where you can have a little relaxation and pampering together. This can be a great way to slow down and unwind from all the walking and ride hopping and ease those muscle aches.
There are also special surprise packages you can have sent to your room to surprise your sweetheart. From flowers and chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne to more elaborate displays. You can have a celebratory cake made to commemorate the occasion brought to your hotel or dinner even.
Go for a carriage ride. Over at Port Orleans Riverside, you can get a horse-drawn carriage ride for you two love birds. It cost $55 for a 25-minute ride the lush setting along the river bank. Then maybe enjoy some Beignets thereafter.
Take a tour at one of the parks, where you get a more behind the scenes experience. The Safari one would be a great honeymoon experience or a culinary tour. Also don’t miss out on doing a Fireworks Dessert party to ignite that spark, and sweeten things up. Its a more intimate setting for you to enjoy the fireworks display with prime views and great desserts and drink options. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time for these special events.
Do a couple’s character meet and greet. Such as Mickey and Minnie or one of the famous Princesses and Princes. They love to get all gushy with you as a newly married couple. Mickey and Minnie had such a wonderful interaction with us and had us pose kissing while they posed kissing. It is one of my favorite photos from our honeymoon.
Lastly, get the memory maker. This is a photo package for all your professional Disney pictures. Go take lots of cute and cheesy pictures. You will love to look back at them one day, at all the fun and love you shared on your honeymoon. 10 years later and I look at these pictures of us, and remember all the fun moments we shared on that trip, which ended up turning into us moving to Florida. I guess we never wanted to leave the honeymoon! Haha! But it was such a magical time for us. It helps remind us to always make time to have fun with each other, which we do as we now frequent the parks often.
Just remember to have fun and relax and focus on each other during this special time. What better than doing that at the most Magical place on Earth? Stay connected with Disney Addicts for more planning ideas.
