Gino has been living in Animal Kingdom even before the park opened to guests in 1998, and has been captivating millions of people that visit the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail ever since. He also made an appearance on “The Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom” series on Disney+ allowing even more families around the world to get to know him.
The silverback gorilla is not only an amazing father and tolerant troop leader, but also a favorite of many cast members and a pioneer when it comes to developing new behaviors and techniques that can be shared with the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE) Center in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for use with other gorillas.
Some of these techniques and behaviors include allowing him to participate in his own care like maintaining good oral hygiene that is super important for the overall health of a gorilla. In Gino’s case, his keepers were able to work with him to develop new behaviors that allow them to brush his teeth, specially after eating all that birthday cake!
Gino’s engaging and playful personality truly endears everyone around him, and there is no gorilla more deserving of this special celebration at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Happy 41st Birthday Gino!
