Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

Across the Eras: Why Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is Finally Breaking the Timeline!

Huge news for the galaxy! For years, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland has been locked into a very specific moment in the timeline (right between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker). But starting April 29, 2026, the timeline gates are officially opening up. Batuu is about to become a hub for the entire saga, letting us rub shoulders with legends from the Galactic Civil War and the New Republic alongside our favorite sequel-era heroes.

It’s a massive shift that turns Black Spire Outpost into a living history of the galaxy. Here’s the breakdown of what’s changing and why you’ll probably want to start booking your park reservations now.

The Legends Return to Batuu

The biggest draw is definitely the character lineup. We aren’t just looking at the Resistance anymore; the OG icons are finally arriving. Imagine walking past the Millennium Falcon and seeing Han Solo leaning against the hull or Princess Leia recruiting locals for the cause.

Even more intense? Darth Vader is bringing the dark side to the outpost. He’ll be patrolling with a squad of Imperial Stormtroopers, searching for Luke Skywalker, who’s also roaming the land looking for ancient Jedi artifacts and kyber crystals. Don’t worry, though, the current favorites like Ahsoka Tano, The Mandalorian, and Grogu will still be around the marketplace, and Rey will continue to hold down the fort at the Resistance camp.

One thing fans have been asking for since day one is more of that classic John Williams magic. Starting in April, the atmosphere is getting a major upgrade. As you walk through the tunnels into the land, you’ll be greeted by the iconic “Main Title” and the “Force Theme.” The land’s background music will now feature motifs from the first six films, including tracks like “Han Solo and the Princess” and “The Emperor.”

And yes, for everyone heading to Oga’s Cantina for a Fuzzy Tauntaun, you can expect to hear the legendary “Cantina Band” tune spinning on the playlist.

Shop Updates and “Salvaged” Goods

Since the timeline is “rolling back” a few decades in certain areas, the local businesses are adapting:

  • Black Spire Surplus: The shop formerly known as First Order Cargo is transforming into a military salvage operation. You’ll be able to find artifacts from both the Empire and the Rebellion here.
  • Droid Depot: We’re meeting an earlier generation of the Mubo family! They’ll be prototyping the BB-series droids, so you can still build your own rolling companion, but with a cool historical twist.
  • Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities: Dok is rotating his stock to show off items from the past, including some unique curiosities that Luke Skywalker himself might be eyeing.

Nighttime Magic: Shadows of Memory

When the suns go down, the spires of Batuu will turn into a massive canvas for “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga.” This projection show tells the story of the Skywalkers across all nine films, using the natural rock formations as a backdrop. On top of that, you can catch “Fire of the Rising Moons,” which gives you a specialized view of the Disneyland fireworks accompanied by Star Wars scores. It’s the perfect way to cap off a day of jumping through different eras.
