Can you fish at Disney World?

So, you want to know if you can fish while on vacation at Disney World…the answer is, of course you can! If your a fisherman, Disney knows that your vacation would not be complete without getting your hands on a rod and reel so they got ya covered! Experiences vary from bass fishing excursions complete with guide to relaxing dockside fishing! Please keep in mind that all fishing at Disney World is a catch and release experience!

Let’s talk about the guided Bass excursions first which can take you to Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, Village Lake or Crescent Lake and World Showcase Lagoon! There are two options; the first will accommodate 5 guests on a whopping 21 foot Tracker pontoon boat and the second accommodates 2 guests for an amazing Bass Nitro Fishing experience. You can make your reservations for either a 2 or 4 hour experience and each excursion includes not only an experienced guide but a rod and reel, tackle, bait and non-alcoholic beverages! Your party also receives a 1 year membership to BASS (Bass Anglers Sportsman Society) which includes a subscription to Bass Master magazine (1 per party)! You can begin making your reservations up to 180 days in advance and these, fun for the whole family, boat trips leave from various places in WDW like Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary or the Yacht Club to name a few!

If you would rather play it by ear, dockside fishing may be just what the doctor ordered! Family fishing fun can be had by all at either of the dockside fishing locations at Walt Disney World Resort! Head on over to Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground if you would like to fish using a good old rod and reel, which is available to rent at the Bike Barn. If you have never had a chance to vacation here, it’s a great location with a ton of things to do for the whole family like campfires and smores! Don’t worry if your not into “traditional” camping because you can happily rent one of their Cabins which accommodate up to 6 guests with all the comforts of home!

The other dockside fishing location is the Fishin’ Hole at Old Man Island, located at the Port Orleans Resort – Riverside! At this lovely resort you can use a cane rod to catch (and release!) all the fish that you want! This moderate resort is a favorite of many and will transport you to the bayous of Louisiana, surrounding you with beauty that only the south can provide!
