Q: I’m visiting Disney but staying offsite. Can I still get a dining plan?
A: Historically the answer to this would have been “No”. The Disney Dining Plans are typically considered one of the many perks of staying on-site at a Walt Disney World Resort. However, its seems that going into 2017 this is about to change.
Starting on January 12, 2017, the Magic Kingdom will start trialing the Disney Dine on the Go meal plan. The plan will be open to guests both on site or off who want to enjoy two Quick Service Meals while at the parks. Like the model already in place over at Universal Studios, guests can purchase this 1-day package on the day. The cost is $29 for adults and $12 for children (aged 3-9) and entitles guests to the following:
- One quick service meal before 4pm
- One quick service meal after 4pm
Both meals include one entree and one-non-alcoholic beverage. Guests can purchase the Disney Dine on the Go Packages by visiting Guest Relations at the Magic Kingdom. Vouchers will be handed out that can be redeemed at each meal. The cost is $29 per adult and 12 for children (3-9) and the vouchers can be used at the following locations:
- Pinocchio’s Village Haus (pictured)
- Columbia Harbour House
- Casey’s Corner
- Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe
- Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.
The current promotion is slated to run until February 22nd, 2017. There is no news yet on whether the plan will be extended beyond these dates, if they will eventually available at other parks or whether additional plans will be offered covering snacks or table service options. Readers are encouraged to watch this space for further details.
