Calling all Tiana fans! We have a little lagniappe (a Cajun term for a surprise gift) for you to celebrate the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World on June 28th!
Imagineers have been working their magic to bring you the next chapter of Tiana’s story, and we’ve been following along, sharing sneak peeks at the exciting developments. Now, we’re thrilled to unveil 16 fascinating images, including some never-before-seen ones, that will take you deeper into the bayou!

New Orleans magic in the making! From the very beginning, the Imagineering team has been channeling the spirit of the Crescent City. This behind-the-scenes photo captures Imagineers Charita Carter, Dustin Eshenroder, and Ted Robledo on a research trip to Louisiana. Here, they’re meeting with local blacksmith Darryl Reeves to gather inspiration for a truly unique celebration.
Music takes center stage at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Every aspect of the ride is designed to celebrate the rich culture of New Orleans, with the city’s vibrant sounds serving as the heart and soul of the experience.
Get ready to be immersed in the musical magic of New Orleans! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure features a soundtrack that blends iconic styles from the city, and lifelike Audio-Animatronics will bring those sounds to life right before your ears.
Last year, exciting news emerged about the musical minds behind the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Terence Blanchard, seen here at Dooky Chase’s in New Orleans, and PJ Morton are lending their talents to create the soundtrack for this immersive experience. Terence is crafting a musical tribute to the heart and soul of New Orleans, the city that inspired “The Princess and the Frog.” During a visit, PJ joined Imagineer and music mastermind John Dennis for a conversation about this unique Disney collaboration. They discussed the arrangements for PJ’s original song, alongside beloved melodies from the original “The Princess and the Frog” film.
In early 2024, the attraction underwent a transformation, incorporating water elements. These never-before-seen photos capture the excitement as the ride vehicles take their first plunge!
During a visit to New Orleans, Carmen Smith, senior vice president, Creative Development – Product/Content & Inclusive Strategies, fellow Imagineer Charita Carter and local artist Malaika Favorite discussed the future attraction during a special moment we’ve never shared before.
This next photo was captured during a research trip to meet New Orleans artist Sharika Mahdi at her renowned alma mater YAYA (Young Aspirations Young Artists) Arts Center. Four pieces were commissioned from Sharika with the art above showing the key theme of family in Tiana’s story.
Sharika showcased her latest work, a painting of Tiana with her mother, in a proud moment aptly photographed with her own mother.
At Dooky Chase’s Restaurant in New Orleans, Imagineers Charita Carter and Ted Robledo soaked up the vibrant atmosphere. Inside the queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, artist Malaika Favorite proudly displayed her stunning mural. Inspired by Disney Animation’s “The Princess and the Frog,” Malaika’s creation unfolds like a storybook across two exterior walls, welcoming guests into the indoor queue with a breathtaking collage of scenes.
The magic is in the details! From handcrafted weathervanes by Louisiana artisans to stunning murals bursting with life, every element of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is designed to transport you to the heart of her next adventure.
The Imagineers’ commitment to detail shines once more with the installation of a custom weathervane, handcrafted by Louisiana’s own master blacksmith, Darryl Reeves. A third-generation blacksmith and Vietnam veteran, Reeves’ skill is evident in his work displayed throughout New Orleans and beyond. With over five decades dedicated to his craft and his city, it’s clear why Reeves was chosen to create this unique piece – a crowning touch for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
