My dear Disney and Muppet fans, The Muppets Mayhem is live on Disney+ as of May 10th! The Electric Mayhem is back in this star-studded series that will include many familiar faces. The premise is simple: This hard-rocking band is on a mission to complete their first EVER studio album and they’ll need some help to get it done.
The series introduces us to some fantastic covers and of course, some originals – both new and old. It also gives a speaking voice to some of the more… background characters of the band. I feel that it is only fair to warn you that some of your Muppet favorites will not be in the series. This is in fact the FIRST muppet series that features cast members from The Muppet Show that does not feature Kermit the Frog. You also will not see Gonzo, Fozzy Bear, or Miss Piggy – but trust me, the Electric Mayhem can hold their own. Plus, as one of the most influential rock bands of all time, they deserve their spotlight!
The Electric Mayhem has always been a part of The Muppets, but it is about time that they take center stage. The series gives a bit more depth and background to the band and you may even get to meet the parents of one of the members! The series also touches on some important topics – family and relationships – while also making light of the challenging and ever-changing landscape of the music industry.
Whether you’re a Muppet Fan or not, this show is a delight for everyone. Like most Muppet films and shows, it expertly navigates adult jokes and themes while remaining wholesome and something for the whole family to enjoy.
