A rather important holiday for all who enjoy a sweet treat, National Dessert Day falls on October 14th. The animators at Disney have their talents for creating all sorts of magical enchantment for our screens – but their way of drawing delicious desserts is simply unmatched. Food has been a major plot focal point ever since the first Disney feature film, and we don’t see that going away any time soon.

  1. Beignets The Princess and the Frog
    • Beignets are something special: sweet, light, fluffy – everything you need in a great dessert. New Orleans is known for their beignets but one restaurant reigns supreme in making what some would consider the perfect beignet. Cafe du Monde turns making beignets into an art form. They give some great instructions and tips on their website but are sure aren’t giving away all their secrets!
  2. Chocolate Chip Cookies The Incredibles 2
    • Jack Jack loves his cookies and you can find gigantic versions of them at Disneyland and at Walt Disney World. If you’re looking to do something different than your normal cookie recipe – Pixar has given us a Cookie Num Num recipe that looks absolutely delicious.
  3. Birthday Cake Sleeping Beauty
    • Okay okay, for bakery beginners – this is not the cake for you. 15 layers, structurally unsound, this cake sounds like an absolute nightmare. If you are looking to take on this challenge – a simple google search will show you that many brave bakers have attempted this feat and succeeded! In the meanwhile – make yourself whatever birthday cake you desire – and save me a slice!
  4. Gooseberry Pie – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
    • If you are looking to show someone some love, Gooseberry Pie is going to be the way to do it! Though Gooseberry Pie is not exactly as popular as it used to be – and you may have to venture to a specialty store to obtain some Gooseberries, this may be a great project in order to try something new! Check out this recipe by Keesha’s Kitchen that was bursting with rave reviews!
  5. Empire Biscuits Brave
    • There is a reason Merida’s brothers cannot help but stuff their faces with these delicious biscuits! Shortbread? Jam? Icing and cherry on top? What’s not to love and enjoy? We found this great recipe by Feast of Starlight that we simply cannot wait to try!
  6. The Grey Stuff Beauty and the Beast
    • If you’ve been to ‘Be Our Guest’ at ‘Red Rose Taverne’ you’ve been able to try the Disney-created The Grey Stuff. Haven’t had the chance to try this delightful treat? You can make it at home! Disney has released the official recipe for The Grey Stuff – and you just need 7 ingredients!
  7. Eat-Me (Sugar) Cookies Alice in Wonderland
    • We love whimsey and if you are looking for a basic recipe that simply needs a theme to elevate it – Alice in Wonderland does just that with cookies. Though your cookies won’t shrink you to dangerous sizes, they will be fun to make regardless! Whether you choose to make sugar or shortbread, any cookie with a film texture is sure to do the trick. Have fun with your icing choices and bake away!
