A Chubby Little Cubby Stuffed with Fluff deserves to have his own National Holiday of course! First published on October 14th, 1926, Winnie the Pooh stumbled onto our bookshelves and for many – has never been replaced. Inspired by a Canadian Black Bear named Winnie by author A. A. Milne, the humble little bear would later evolve from a book inspiration to being licensed by the Walt Disney Company in 1961 – not bad for a 35-year-old tale!

- An Ode to the Author
- If the first Winnie-the-Pooh book was published on October 14th, why is National Winnie the Pooh Day on January 18th? Well, simply put, the author Alan Alexander Milne was born on January 18th. The date stands as a tribute to a great character created by a great author.
- To Hyphenate or Not
- Confused as to why Winnie-the-Pooh is hyphenated in some circumstances and not in others? Well, thank Disney for that! When licensed out by Disney, the decision was made to remove the hyphens! So, when some fans talk about the books, they may use hyphens, and when others talk about the Disney version, they are removed!

- Thank Diane!
- Whether or not Walt Disney would have caught wind of the beauty of Winnie the Pooh without his daughter Diane, we’ll never know. Walt would hear the laughter of his daughter and see what was making her laugh. It was, of course, our dear friend Pooh. Disney was interested in getting the rights for the bear as early as 1938.
