Since the holidays are fast approaching and Walt Disney World and Disneyland are already in full swing, it is time to think about that special gift for your loved one. How about a Disney Cruise that provides many opportunities for an adult-only getaway that you are sure to enjoy!
I know what you are thinking. When you think of a Disney cruise, you think of children…everywhere. While that may be the case that they are also onboard the same cruise line you are, that doesn’t mean the cruise line is only for them. The same goes for Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Disney is for everyone!
First, there are so many things for children to do onboard the Disney Cruise Line ships you won’t even know they are there. The kids can enjoy themselves at the youth club, character experiences, or waterslides throughout each ship! While the kids are away, the adults can dine as if they are on an adult-only getaway. Palo and Remy offer exquisite fine-dining meals for adults sailing on a Disney cruise. Palo can be found aboard many of the Disney Cruise Line ships, however, Remy is exclusive to the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. These restaurants offer amazing views of the ocean, wonderful cuisine, and an upscale atmosphere, which is obviously a must-do for adults! Plus, all cruises offer dinner at Palo and select dates on cruises lasting 4 days or longer offer brunch!
Before you get ready for your amazing fine-dining experience, adults need to relax first! Enjoying a spa treatment is a great way to do just that! The Senses Spa & Salon or Vista Spa & Salon on the Disney Wonder offers treatments ranging from facials to massages. Plus, for a truly adult-only cruise experience, get a pass for the Rainforest! The Rainforest is an area of the ship that allows only adults to visit and includes a sauna, steam room, special showers, and even heated loungers! Talk about relaxation!!
Of course, just because you are on an adult-only cruise doesn’t mean you have to be prim and proper all the time! Have some fun! See those characters without your children if you have them! Characters appear mainly at set times in specific locations, which are noted in each day’s schedule. Some surprise appearances might take place but are easily avoidable if you are not on the character bandwagon. Adults who actually want to encounter Minnie, Pluto and the rest of the gang will be excited to hear that the characters are far more accessible on board than they are at any of the land-based Disney parks.
Lastly, the Disney Cruise Line also offers a pub that shows live sporting events, a Champagne lounge, a bar with live music, and a nightclub with a DJ and dancing that becomes adults-only after 9 p.m. Plus, these areas also include dancing, trivia, game shows, and even a Quest scavenger hunt. Some, adult activities on a Disney cruise are often seasonal, as well. For example, during Halloween, you could participate in an adult costume contest.
