Disney World Resorts to Skip in 2024
Choosing where to stay for your Disney World vacation is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make. However, there are some resorts to skip if you’re planning to visit Disney World in 2024. Whether there is construction happening at the resort, the pool(s) will be closed, or the transportation options are limited, here are the resorts to skip next year.

Construction
Walt Disney World is constantly updating and improving its resorts. In the last few years, we have seen a big push especially to update the rooms. From Pop Century and the All-Stars to Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney has taken steps to update and improve the guest experiences at these Resorts.
Those updates don’t come without their downsides. While Disney does their best to minimize the impact the construction has on the guest’s experience, there is a chance you could end up with a room close to the construction. Here are the resorts that will have work happening in 2024:
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: Disney World is bringing a new Disney Vacation Club Villas to the resort. Due to the construction, the walkway from Disney’s Polynesian Resort to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is closed. Part of the beach area is closed off as well.
- Disney’s BoardWalk Inn: Disney is updating the overall Boardwalk area. The rooms at the resort, along with the Villas, are still being refurbished.
Transportation Limits
While Disney World does offer free transportation options between the resorts and the parks, not all transportation options are created equal. Some resorts offer the Skyliner while others feature the monorail while others only have the bus option. There’s even some resorts with boats and walking paths! There are quite a few resorts to skip if transportation is a priority.
When choosing your resort, consider which park(s) you’ll spend the most time in. If you prefer to be at Magic Kingdom, consider staying on the monorail line. If you’d like extra time at Epcot and Hollywood Studios, plan to stay at a resort on the Skyliner loop or a resort that offers walking paths like Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts.
Transportation takes up more time than you’d expect at Disney World and your time is precious!
Closed Pools
If swimming or relaxing at the pool is a priority for your 2024 trip, there are a few resorts to skip. Currently, only three resort pools are scheduled to be closed next year.
- Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies: closed from January to April 2024
- Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort: closed from January to late March 2024
- Doubloon Lagoon pool at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter: closed from January to April 2024
While guests staying at those resorts will have access to other pools, it won’t be quite as convenient. There may be better options at other resorts.
When planning your trip, be aware of construction and refurbishments that might impact your stay and know which resorts to skip. Using a travel agent is also helpful when making these decisions! Contact me for a free vacation quote when you’re ready to plan your next visit.
