When planning the ultimate Disney Family Vacation, things can seem a bit overwhelming. With so many options to choose from, one can get a little lost. Especially if you’re traveling with a large group, there’s a lot more to consider. This could potentially make things a bit more challenging, but not to worry. Everyone gets that pre-vacation stress, but we are here to help you plant the best Disney Family Vacation for your large travel group!
Planning-
When is comes to planning, the sooner the better in our opinion. The best way to start the planning process is to become a planner. Get used to setting calendar reminders, get comfortable with your My Disney Experience app, and ask your group for opinions. Find our exactly how you all want to spend this magical time and what others in your group expect. Efficient and comprehensive planning is probably the most important step when beginning to plan your Disney Family Vacation. Learning to make a list of what everyone hopes to experience and turning those into actual reservations is key!
Travel-
This is will depend on your travel group and where you are all traveling from. Your choices (if you have one) are to either drive or fly. Although driving can be a more cost effective way to go, traveling with a large group could make your drive less than comfortable. Booking flights in advance can raise your travel budget, but the convenience can be worth it. If your group is flying into Orlando, plan ahead to take the Magical Express to your Walt Disney World Resort destination. With a little Disney magic, your bags will be delivered straight to your room when it’s ready and you can even check in on the My Disney Experience App.
Where to Stay-
When it comes to where to stay, we highly recommend staying on Walt Disney World property. Your whole travel group can hop on a bus, boat, or skyliner together to the parks. Also, the Disney resorts have plenty of group daily and nightly activities that the whole family can enjoy together. There are multiple amenities and there’s nothing like a Disney guarantee.
While traveling with a larger group, hotel costs can be pretty expensive. However, there are a handful of quality value resorts to consider. In addition, food courts and dining are readily available at all Disney resorts. This is a great option for large parties. Food courts, unlike resort restaurants, don’t’ require reservations and offer a readily available supply of food with plenty of different choices. This can help with the stress of having to rush to a reservation in the parks or at your resort.
Dining Plan
There are three different options to chose from when is comes to a Disney Dining Plan. A little math goes a long way in determining which plan is right for you and your party. Figure the dollar amount of each person that would be spent on dining if you paid out of pocket, and compare that to your overall dining plan cost. Almost always, with parties over five, you will see that the dining plan (regular or deluxe) will most likely save you a couple of hundred dollars! Tip: When utilizing a dining plan that offers table credits, early reservations will open up 180 days prior to your trip, so reserve accordingly
Budgeting-
This is very important because there are a lot of factors to consider. You will need to think about tips and gratuities, souvenirs, and those extra magical moments! It’s always important, especially with large families or parties, to set a concrete budget for spending. This includes what you’re going to spend each day while on your vacation. With a large travel group, budgeting is essential and you’ll be glad you worked out these details.
Memory Maker-
This is something we strongly recommend getting! The Memory Maker is a great option for you to remember your Disney Family Vacation for years to come. Get the magical park and attraction photos straight from your computer or phone! You don’t have to worry if you got the perfect shot, because it will already be loaded in your app. Trust us, you will want this to remember all the magical moments of your Disney Family Vacation.
When traveling with a large family or group, you’re going to want to make sure you’ve planned out all the details. This will help you plan the most memorable Disney Family Vacation. Trust us, you’re family will thank you! Happy and safe travels!
