Question: Is there nighttime Entertainment at Walt Disney World outside the parks?
Answer: ABSOLUTELY! The first area I would have you head to is Downtown Disney. Here you can catch some live music at Raglan Road or enjoy fine dining at one of many restaurants. Downtown Disney is currently going through a multi-year transformation and will be known as Disney Springs in the future. There are three distinct areas to Downtown Disney- The Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and West Side.
The Marketplace is an outdoor shopping and dining area. There are over 20 venues here and you can occasionally find live entertainment on the Waterside Stage. Kids will love the Magical Water Fountain, Marketplace Carousel and Marketplace Train Express. Some of the best shopping in Disney can be done at the Marketplace. Don’t miss going into the World of Disney- it’s the largest Disney character merchandise store and separated into 12 areas!!
Notable locations at Pleasure Island include Raglan Road, Fuego by Sosa Cigars, Curl by Sammy Duvall, and many outdoor food and beverage locations. In the past, Pleasure Island was known for its nightclubs, and has taken on a new image to feature nighttime entertainment with themed restaurants and shops.
West Side is the newest area to Downtown Disney and is the home to Cirque du Soleil, DisneyQuest, Bongos Cuban Café, House of Blues, and Planet Hollywood. There is also an AMC 24 Theatre, Characters in Flight- a giant tethered balloon that takes you 400 feet into the air for some amazingly unique views, and Splitsville– Disney’s new luxury entertainment venue featuring bowling, billiards, dining, music, and nightlife. Many shops are also featured throughout the West Side.
Another great area is Disney’s Boardwalk, themed after the Jersey shore. This area is within walking distance to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Are you a big sports fan? Then head over to the ESPN Club to watch the game on one of 100 televisions, plus a 108 square foot screen! Jellyrolls features dueling pianos and you can dance the night away at Atlantic Dance Hall. There are street performers that also stroll the Boardwalk and perform nightly from 6:30pm-10:30pm. You never know who you might run into! Big River Grille & Brewing Works is a restaurant and brew pub that creates its own beers. There are also a number of lounges in the area for you to relax at after dinner- the Belle Vue Lounge (BoardWalk Inn), Crew’s Cup Lounge (Yacht Club), and Martha’s Vineyard (Beach Club).
At both areas, you will also find a variety of shops and galleries.
As you can see, the fun isn’t just limited to Disney’s four theme parks. You can play all day and night! I would love to help you plan the most fun vacation you can imagine. Email me today at tricia@worldofmagictravel.com to bring your dreams to life and be sure to follow me on Facebook!
