There are so many things to do at Walt Disney World besides the parks. Did you know every day at Walt Disney World’s resort pools Cast Members entertain guests of all ages with music, games, and crafts? Weather permitting of course! Our “pool days” at Disney are usually our favorite days of the trip, I usually have to drag my daughter away if I want to leave and head to the parks.
The games and activities can vary from resort to resort but this will give you an idea of what you and the kiddos can look forward to. First, we start off with a good old fashioned water balloon toss. Disney throws in a few surprise twists to this classic game, it’s not as easy as it looks.
Next, we have a fun game of “musical shapes”. This is a favorite for kids of all ages. Once the music stops the kids are left scrambling for one of those winning yellow rings. In addition to this game they also played “Guess the Disney Song”, Cast Members play just a quick few seconds of classic Disney songs and everyone shouts out their guesses as quickly as they can. This was a followed up by dance party where everyone could let loose and be silly. This is a crowd pleaser.
Almost everyone at the pool played this one, my favorite, “bingo”. No messy markers or bingo chips to lose, these easy to use bingo cards make playing by the pool a breeze. Each square has half a hole punch and you simply fold it over to mark your spot. They play multiple rounds allowing many guests a chance to pick a prize from the treasure chest. Guests can participate in all of these fun games and activities at no charge.
Some resorts may also run special crafting workshops at an additional cost. For instance, during my recent visit, Cast Members were helping guests create their very own Mickey Mouse Tie Dye T-shirt or Tie Dye Socks. At a cost of $5.00-$17.00 you can make a tie dye souvenir to take home. Actually, you make it at the pool and then take it with you in a plastic bag with instructions to finish the process in 24-48 hours.
Next time you are at Walt Disney World, I would definitely recommend taking a break from the parks and spending an afternoon enjoying the fun and games at your resort pool. Each resort creates a monthly pool schedule filled with fun activities like the ones above. Schedules can be picked-up when you check-in so be sure to ask!
