When is the least crowded dates to visit Disney during the school year?

I would suggest heading to the Disney Parks in September or late October. If you play your cards right you may even be able to visiting during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! Which if you haven’t experienced this event it is a MUST-DO for any family!

I myself, usually like to visit Walt Disney World during September. The weather is good, rates are great, it’s still warm enough to jump in the pool and the crowds are generally low because kids are back in school. Check out this crowd calendar for the best and worst days.

Should I Take My Child Out of School?

Like you, I also struggle with the idea of taking my child out of school. We want the perks of visiting the parks while school is in session but also remain concerned whether our child will be missing out on the classroom lessons.

If you decide to do so, I have usually tried to contact my daughter’s teacher as FAR in advance as possible. I always request that the teacher send homework along with us for our trip so that we can make sure my daughter doesn’t miss out on any classroom topics. I like to give the teacher a heads up on the activities that I plan to be attending in WDW and ask if there is any requests that she would like my child to research while away.

Are you visiting The Animal Kingdom or Epcot? These parks are jam-packed with learning experiences! Usually the teacher doesn’t mind and is grateful for the thought and concern to him/her and will work with you as needed.

Tip: Remember to inform your child’s teacher if the trip is a surprise to your child! I’ve had a close call one time and learned my lesson quickly.
