History was made as the Minnie Mouse balloon took center stage at the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For the first time ever, the beloved Disney character soared through the streets of New York City as a giant balloon, captivating audiences of all ages.

A Timeless Icon Takes Flight
As Minnie Mouse approaches her 100th anniversary, Macy’s Studios brought her iconic style to life in a 60-foot balloon. Designed by Disney’s director of character art, Jeff Shelly, the balloon showcases Minnie in her signature red bow, yellow heels, and a dazzling pose.
A Magical Collaboration
The Minnie Mouse balloon is part of a larger Disney and Macy’s collaboration that celebrates the two iconic brands. Special Mickey and Minnie shops were opened at 200 Macy’s locations nationwide, featuring merchandise inspired by the parade balloon. The Macy’s Herald Square location even offered an augmented reality experience that allowed shoppers to become official balloon handlers.
A Spectacle to Remember
The Minnie Mouse balloon joined the ranks of other beloved characters in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, including the Spider-Man balloon that is making an appearance for the first time in 10 years, and the debut of the Disney Treasure float from Disney Cruise Line with beloved characters like Captain Mickey and Minnie plus Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Moana, Miguel, Jasmine, Aladdin, Tiana and more. As the balloon made its way down the 2.5-mile parade route, it was a sight to behold, towering over the city skyline.
