2019 is going to be a BIG year for Walt Disney World and we are looking forward to so many new rides and experiences! In fact, no matter which parks your choice, we’d go so far as to say 2019 is the year to be at Disney World! The most anticipated of these, of course, is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge but there is so much more in store too! Let’s take a look at some of the new experiences we are anticipating most!

Magic Kingdom:
Magic Kingdom Mistakes
Mickey and Minnies Surprise Celebration: Mickey and Minnie turned 90 on November and the party continues into 2019! Meet them on Main Street USA in festive birthday outfits before going to check out an all-new version of the Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party! Sing and dance your way around The Hub with favorite Disney friends in a festive street party that will feature music from The Mickey Mouse Club.

EPCOT:
New in 2019: A Complete Guide to What's Coming to Walt Disney World Next Year 1
Epcot is undergoing a major transformation over the next several years. New experiences are in the works park-wide! Most of these developments won’t be open until 2020 and beyond but there are some amazing new experiences to look forward to in 2019!

Epcot Forever:  This will be a new temporary show that will run in between Illuminations closing and the new permanent shows start in 2020. Epcot Forever will make its debut in the fall of 2019 and we are already in love with it. The show will, in essence, tell the story of Epcot, both from an Imagineering perspective and from a classic attraction perspective.  It will feature a soundtrack based on Classic Epcot Attractions. The show will begin with “one little spark” and crescendo into an amazing display of fireworks, music, and kites! As an Epcot lover, it sounds like this writer will be crying throughout the entire show!

Space Themed Restaurant: This one makes the list because a 2019 debut is very likely, however, it is important to keep in mind that no official opening date has been announced as of the time of this writing. It is no secret that Epcot is host to some amazing dining but none has captured our imaginations quite as this one has. Details have been scarce and sporadic but from what we have pieced together what has been announced to give you as clear a picture as we can. (Potential spoilers ahead. If you would rather be surprised by this experience, you may want to skip this section) The basic premise is that the two-story restaurant will transport us to a space station. Guests enter on Earth (the ground floor) and are shuttled to the space station via a state of the art elevator that will make us feel as though we are traveling to space with the use of high tech screens. The second floor will be the dining room area and will offer views of space. The restaurant will be owned and operated by the Patina group, the same group that owns the amazing  Tutto Italiano in the Italy pavilion space are confident the quality of food will be great!

Hollywood Studios:
What's Left Hollywood Studios
After a very long wait, Hollywood Studios will fully come alive again in 2019! Just in time for the Parks 30th anniversary the multiyear expansions and new developments will finally be completed and we are eagerly anticipating experiencing a fully competed Hollywood Studios once again!

Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway: It has been a while since Disney gave us a brand new ride with an original soundtrack so we are very excited! That isn’t the only reason to get excited though- Mickeys very first attraction will feature state of the art technology will give guests the experience of actually stepping into a cartoon which is something we think we will have to experience to believe!

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy:  This new high octane attraction will have you racing to Hollywood Studios! Located near Rockin Roller Coaster, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Acadamy will transport you to Radiator Springs. During the show, you’ll become a student of the now retired Lightning McQueen as he trains a new generation of racers.  However, Things don’t go exactly as planned. As is usually the case when Lighting is involved, a cast of friends is ready to help get things back on track.

Wonderful World of Animation: This new nighttime high-tech projection show will star Mickey Mouse and take guests on a fantastic journey through 90 years of Mickey cartoons!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Just in case you haven’t heard, there is a little thing coming to Hollywood Studios called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We are kidding, of course, it is going to be huge. This new land is perhaps the most anticipated expansion in Disney Parks history. Step into a galaxy far far away and live your own personal galactic adventure. This new land will feature two amazing new rides, two new restaurants, and brand new shopping experiences. However, the land will be much more than that. It will be a fully immersive experience that will allow guests to actually become a part of the story. Unlike other “interactive” rides (lookin’ at you Mission: Space) your performance on rides in this new land will actually matter and affect your ride experience. It is possible you may hear about a particularly successful (or unsuccessful) mission in other areas of the land too. How incredible is that? Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is expected to open in late Fall 2019. So close…yet so far!

Animal Kingdom:
5 Spots Animal Kingdom
No major projects have been undertaken at Animal Kingdom since the opening of Pandora in 2017 but that doesn’t mean there is nothing to look forward to.

A Lion King Celebration: In honor of the Lion Kings 25th anniversary join characters from the classic Disney film for a wild dance party in the streets of Animal Kingdom!

Beyond the Parks:

Labor Day Weekend
Coronado Springs Expansion: The amazing new Gran Destino Tower will open in 2019 revitalizing the hotel lobby with a modern Spanish and Mexican influence.

Disney Springs:  The much-buzzed-about Jaleo restaurant will open in 2019 making it the sixth location worldwide to be opened by renowned chef José Andres. Additionally City Works Eatery & Pour House and the NBA Experience will open to guests at Disney Springs in 2019.

Disney Skyliner: Another groundbreaking addition to Walt Disney World in 2019 will be the Skyliner, a brand new transportation system in the sky! Gondolas will transport guests by Cable  from the Art of Animation, Pop Century, Carribean Beach and Rivera Resorts to Hollywood Studios and Epcot (and back again!)

Disney’s Rivera Resort: Disney’s newest Disney Vacation Club property will open in 2019. Not much is known about this new resort except that it will have an amazing Mediterranean theme! We can’t wait to check out the fabulous new addition to the DVC family!
