The Music of Pixar Live

Pixar Live Hollywood Studios

Q: Is there a new show Pixar-themed show coming to Hollywood Studios this Summer?

A: Yes.  Disney World announced the end of March that they will be introducing a new Disney•Pixar-themed concert to Hollywood Studio’s entertainment line-up. “The Music of Pixar Live! A Symphony of Characters” will start entertaining guests beginning on May 26, 2017.

The concert, taking place at Hollywood Studios’ Theater of the Stars (which also houses Beauty and The Beast- Live on Stage),  will feature a live orchestra that will treat guests to musical numbers from much loved Disney•Pixar films such as “Cars” and “Toy Story”.  Stage appearances will also be made by popular Disney• Pixar friends including the Incredibles, Woody and Jesse from “Toy Story” and Mike and Sulley from “Monsters Inc.”

Hollywood Studios‘ new show seems to draw its inspiration from the various “Pixar in Concert”performances that have sprung up on the repertoires of Symphony Orchestras throughout the country.  There is no word yet on whether popular Disney•Pixar films like “Finding Nemo” or “Up” will be included in the mix nor has Disney released official word regarding a run-time for the concert.

This limited-time concert event is slated to run throughout the Summer and will take place 3-times nightly.  Exact showtimes haven’t been announced yet.  Readers are encouraged to watch this space for further details.

Does this Mean I won’t be-able to see Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage? No.  Both shows will be running out of the Theater of the Stars. Beauty an The Beast will start its first performances an hour earlier each day beginning at 10am.  This means that its last performance of the day will happen earlier giving “Pixar Live!” the stage into the evening hours.

So if you’re heading to the parks this Summer be sure to add this newest event to your must-do list.  It promises to be a delightful journey through some of the amazing movies that have left audiences captivated.
