Have you heard the news? Walt Disney World is adding some new and exciting transportation options for guests! Although whispers of speculation had been prevalent for months, Disney shared their official transportation announcement at the recent D23 event. Read on to find out the details about these latest and greatest Disney innovations!
Q. What are the new Walt Disney World transportation options?
A. Disney will now offer point-to-point transportation for guests via Minnie Vans. Additionally, Disney plans to introduce its Skyliner system sometime in late 2019.
Q. What is Disney’s Minnie Van Service?
A. Ready for a personal transportation service featuring Minnie Mouse’s flair? Then get ready for Disney’s newest transportation option! Minnie Vans will transport guests to any Walt Disney World Resort destination for a flat fee of $20. Guests will reserve a Minnie Van through the Lyft app on their smartphones. Once guests activate this app on-property, a Minnie Van service option will be unlocked. Soon after, a Cast Member will arrive to whisk guests away to their on-site destination, whether that’s a park, Disney Springs, or even a different resort. The Minnie Van service will operate from 6:30 AM – 12:30 AM, and each van will feature two car seats and accommodate up to 7 or 8 passengers. Currently, Disney’s Minnie Van service is in the soft opening phase at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Beach Club, and Disney’s Yacht Club.
Q. What is Disney’s Skyliner System?
A. Look up! You’ll soon be able to see Disney’s gondola-style Skyliners soaring overhead at select Walt Disney World locations! This unique transportation system, which is slated to open sometime in late 2019, will connect Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (among other possible locations) with Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway entrance to Epcot. Equally exciting is Disney’s design plan for each gondola; expect theming to reflect your favorite Disney characters! Little ones – and big ones, too – are sure to delight in the views they’ll experience from the safety of Disney’s enclosed Skyliner system!
Q. Are there any other new transportation systems arriving at Walt Disney World?
A. Although Disney’s Minnie Vans and Skyliner system remain the newest transportation options for guests, Disney recently released park-to-park Express Transportation Service this past December. By purchasing a single-day ticket for $19/person or a multi-day ticket for $29/person (which is valid for up to 7 days), guests can enjoy VIP-style bus transportation from the backstage area of each park. This means that guests can skip the security lines at additional parks visited consecutively in the same day. Disney’s Express Transportation Service is designed for park hopping guests who want to make the most of their time in the parks. Buses depart from select backstage locations every 30 minutes from 10:00 AM until park closing. This transportation provides direct service from park to park and allows guests to disembark from inside their park destination. Guests can purchase tickets at park ticket windows, Disney Springs, Guest Relations, Disney Resort concierge locations, or kiosks at Express Transportation ticket locations. Additionally, Disney is offering a special promotion to Annual Passholders for summer travel. These guests can purchase an Express Transportation Summer Pass for $59/passholder. This pass can be used now through August 10th.
