Make your Plans in Advance
Walt Disney World is incredibly popular, and spots fill up quickly. To secure your desired hotel, dining reservations, and magical extras, it’s best to plan your trip about seven months in advance. Dining reservations open 60 days prior to your visit, so book popular restaurants as soon as possible. Magical experiences like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique are also in high demand, so reserve your spot promptly.
Pick Your Dates
Choosing the perfect time to visit Walt Disney World is crucial. Consider your priorities: warm weather, smaller crowds, or aligning your trip with school breaks. Once you’ve determined your ideal conditions, select your desired travel dates. For a truly magical experience, we recommend a week-long vacation, with at least four full days dedicated to exploring the parks.
Download the My Disney Experience App
The My Disney Experience app is your essential tool for planning and managing your Walt Disney World vacation. From booking accommodations and dining reservations to purchasing tickets and photography packages, this convenient app has it all. You can also access park hours, special event details, and more. Be sure to download it before your trip to make the most of your time at the parks.
Choose Where to Stay
Choosing the right place to stay at Walt Disney World is important. You can choose between on-property Disney resorts or nearby Good Neighbor Hotels. Factors like budget, proximity to the parks, hotel amenities, and transportation options should be considered. Staying at a Disney resort offers perks like complimentary transportation to the parks and Early Theme Park Entry.
Prioritize Your Favorites
With countless attractions, shows, and dining options, it’s impossible to experience everything Walt Disney World offers in one visit. Prioritize your must-dos to make the most of your time. Don’t forget to book reservations for your top dining choices exactly 60 days before your trip, as popular spots fill up quickly.
Embrace Early Mornings
While not a morning person by nature, I eagerly embrace early mornings at Walt Disney World! The parks are less crowded in the early hours, making it the perfect time to conquer popular attractions. If you’re staying at a Disney resort, take full advantage of Early Theme Park Entry. Being among the first guests in the park can significantly enhance your experience, especially if you’re looking to avoid purchasing Individual Lightning Lane passes for in-demand rides.
Purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a valuable tool for maximizing your time at the parks when used strategically. Starting at $25 per ticket per day, this option allows you to schedule shorter wait times for select attractions through the My Disney Experience app. By utilizing Lightning Lane, you can often experience popular rides with significantly reduced wait times compared to the standby queues.
Take Advantage of Rider Switch
Families with young children will appreciate the Rider Switch program. If your group includes members who don’t meet a ride’s height requirement, one adult can stay with the younger guests while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. Then, the adult who waited can ride without waiting in the regular line, thanks to a digital Rider Switch return time. This time-saving option can be a lifesaver, especially with multiple children.
Shop in the Evenings
There are so many stores with so many enticing souvenirs! But wait until the evening to do your shopping. There are a couple of reasons I wait until the end of the day for shopping.
- It’s a pain carrying around the bags of stuff that you purchase!
- My kids always change their minds! We let them pick out one item as their souvenir and it always happens that they see something they want but change their minds later! We have started taking pictures of what they like and letting them go through the photos on our phone at the end of the day to choose what they really want.
- Also, the shops on Main Street USA typically stay open an hour after park closing, so why use up valuable time shopping?
Bring in Food & Drinks
One way to save money and avoid hangry outbursts is by bringing your own food and drinks into Walt Disney World. While park food can be pricey, you’re allowed to pack your own snacks and meals. Just remember to leave glass containers and alcohol at home.
Utilize Mobile Order
Save time and skip the long lines by using Mobile Ordering. Many quick-service restaurants in the parks and resorts offer this convenient service. Simply place your order through the My Disney Experience app while waiting in line for a ride, standing in a restaurant queue, or even relaxing in your hotel room. When your food is ready, pick it up at the designated Mobile Order window.
