Yesterday Disney announced more information about the upcoming Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration! Disney World will commemorate its 50th anniversary on October 1, 2021, with lots of festivities!
Disney officials have confirmed that the pandemic will not derail the celebration. They also unveiled some of what is planned for the anniversary. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting all the feels and I’m itching to get back to the magic!
So, here’s the big question. Should you visit for the celebration? My answer is a big YES! Here’s why:
The Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration will start on October 1, 2021 and last for a whopping 18 months! Many guests won’t want to deal with the crowds on October 1, and that’s ok! Disney has planned accordingly for all guests. You will have plenty of time to experience the celebration.
18 months of celebrating has the party ending around April 2023! That lets you choose your favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World during the celebration. Win/win!
If you do want to visit on the actual anniversary, October 1, 2021, there will be some exclusive offerings. Disney has not announced those yet, however.
No matter when you choose to visit, you will get to experience the new EARidescence of the parks! The icons in each park will receive a makeover as well as Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse’s outfits.
If these aren’t enough reasons to visit in the next couple of years, keep in mind new attractions, hotels and restaurants will be opening as well!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Epcot will debut this year. Before the 50th anniversary celebration ends, Tron Lightcycle Power Run will open in Magic Kingdom. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will also debut in Epcot.
By the end of 2021, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, aka the new Star Wars Hotel, will accept reservations for hotel stays.
Space 220, the upcoming restaurant in Epcot, is expected to open this year. Other areas of Epcot currently under construction, like the PLAY! Pavilion, could be finished before the end of the 50th anniversary celebration.
There will be so many things to experience over the next couple of years at Walt Disney World! And you have plenty of time to plan your trip.
