With Pandora – The World of Avatar a little over a month old, I’m sure you’ve heard about how amazingly stunning this new land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom really is. There is nothing else quite like it on Disney property and what makes it so truly amazing is the floating mountains, remarkable flora and fauna and gorgeous vistas that make it the perfect photographers playground. The bioluminescent element of Pandora also means that you get a completely different experience at night then you would have during the day.

So how do you perfectly capture those images for all posterity? Disney teamed up with Nikon to provide visitors with a few amazing tips and tricks on ways to get that perfect Pandora picture. Here’s a couple of helpful tidbits to help you get started next time you pay a visit!

Its all about the right lens – According to Mike Corrado, Nikon USA’s Senior Manager of Pro Relations, when it comes to getting that perfect Pandora shot, what lens you chose (for the professional photographers among us) is absolutely key. In a recent piece on Disney Parks Blog he gave the following bits of advice: “You see the expansive landscape so you think wide angle (lens) but you also see the details in the foliage and the flowers and really want to get close, so, a macro lens is really ideal to have,” Corrado said. “A zoom lens is probably the best thing to walk in with – it covers the wide angle and does a little bit of macro and gets some telephoto.

Use your surroundings as your tripod – Pandora is covered with delightful nooks, crannies and curious objects that you can actually use to your advantage to capture that magical snap. As Ron Magill, Nikon USA Ambassador puts it, ” “You’re provided with all of these great structures (in the land) – whether it’s rock work or railings – whatever it is, place your camera on it and use it as a tripod,”

Scout out the perfect location – Though there is certainly now shortage of amazing views in Pandora that will lend themselves to incredible photos, Disney and Nikon have come up with a handy map of go-to locations to score some amazing photos. Take a look:
