At Walt Disney World, even the attraction queues are magical
Walt Disney World Resort is famous for its immersive attractions, stunning theming, and world-class entertainment. In true Disney fashion, they have extended this magic to the attraction queues. While waiting in line may seem like a tedious task, Disney has mastered the art of making the queue lines as enjoyable as the attractions themselves. In this post, we’ll explore the top 5 most immersive line queues at Walt Disney World Resort.

#5-Expedition Everest – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The queue for Expedition Everest takes guests through a Himalayan village, where they see intricate theming like the prayer flags and the Yeti Museum. They then enter the base camp for the expedition, where they can see the equipment and supplies needed for the climb. The queue allows you to truly believe you are at a base camp ready for a journey up the forbidden mountain.
#4-Haunted Mansion – Magic Kingdom Park
The Haunted Mansion queue takes guests through the spooky grounds of a haunted estate. They see creepy tombstones, a pet cemetery, and even a ghostly hearse. Some parts of the queue are interactive, and others provide context to what you are about to see when you enter the attraction. The queue culminates in the mansion’s grand entrance, where they’re welcomed by the iconic stretching room.
#3-Avatar Flight of Passage – Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The queue for Avatar Flight of Passage is an attraction in itself. Guests are transported into a cave-like environment filled with bioluminescent plants and creatures. They then pass through the Avatar research facility, where they see the scientists studying the Na’vi and their culture. The final section of the queue takes guests through a lab where they can witness the Avatars being created. The queue is so immersive that it’s easy to forget they’re waiting in line for a ride.
#2-Tower of Terror – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Prior to #1 on this list opening, this was by far my favorite queue at Walt Disney World. The Tower of Terror queue takes guests through the eerie gardens and hotel lobby of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, cobwebs included! They see artifacts from the hotel’s past and even get to hear the backstory of the ill-fated guests who disappeared on the elevator ride. The queue perfectly sets the stage for the thrilling ride to come.
#1-Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind – Epcot
The queue for Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind is so immersive and impressive, it almost becomes a separate attraction in and of itself. The queue stage for the ride from the moment you step in the door, and even includes not 1 but 2 pre-shows. The second pre-show includes some really cool special effects, and almost feels more like a movie trailer than a pre-show. This is one queue that you do not want to miss, even if you have to skip the actual ride due to motion sickness.

Disney has transformed a typically boring wait in line into a memorable experience. From the Avatar Flight of Passage to Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, these queues are attractions in themselves and add to the overall experience of visiting Walt Disney World Resort.
Do you think one of the queues on this list is overrated? Have a specific queue that you think should be included (I am looking at you Dumbo and Peter Pan’s Flight)? Leave a comment and let me know!
