A New Breed of Terror
Universal Horror Unleashed isn’t just a seasonal event; it’s a completely original horror brand, distinct from Halloween Horror Nights but created by many of the same twisted minds behind it. Nate Stevenson and TJ Manorino, longtime veterans of Universal’s art and design team, are behind the vision. Their goal? To create a horror playground built from the ground up for year-round screams—and fans are in for a treat… or a terrifying trick.
Housed in a 110,000-square-foot warehouse in AREA15’s new District 2 expansion, this facility is themed to feel like a forbidden space—an abandoned production storage facility fortified not to keep people out… but to keep something in.
The Story: Enter the Shadow World

The spine-chilling backstory of Universal Horror Unleashed is rooted in Universal’s legacy. Inside the ominous warehouse lies a breach between our world and what creatives call the “Shadow World.” Legendary Truth, the fictional investigative team from HHN lore, has been tasked with containing the chaos. Haunted props from Universal’s century of horror filmmaking have ignited supernatural eruptions throughout the building.
Guests begin their journey in Dead Storage, a cluttered labyrinth of forgotten sets and haunted relics, including pieces from the infamous Phantom of the Opera stage. From there, you’ll descend into other themed zones like Kill Vault, Prop Graveyard, and Shipping & Receiving, each plagued by different supernatural threats—and inhabited by roaming, interactive scareactors.
These aren’t your typical street scare zones, either. These characters live in the space. You can talk with them, hear their lore, and even encounter their own social hierarchies. Whether you want to watch the chaos from a barstool or dive headfirst into the Shadow World’s narrative, this experience is tailored to all levels of horror fans.

The Haunted Houses
Universal Horror Unleashed features four uniquely terrifying houses, each with rich stories and elevated design:
- Universal Monsters: An ode to Universal’s horror origins, this house features Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, and more—each in their own horrifying habitat. It’s a “Monster Mash” you won’t want to survive.
- Scarecrow: The Reaping: A fan-favorite from HHN 27, this hauntingly immersive experience drops you into the Dust Bowl-era Midwest, where cursed farmland exacts revenge via vengeful scarecrow guardians. Think cornfields, crumbling barns, and an actual dust storm simulation.
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: A brand-new take on the 1974 horror classic, this house unfolds like the film itself—starting at the graveyard and pulling you deeper into the Sawyer family’s madness. Every character and every gruesome moment has been recreated…and intensified.
- Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer: Based on the recent film, this house lets you relive scenes from the movie, with evolving environments and deeply unsettling encounters. It’s darker, more psychological, and deeply immersive.
Each house benefits from longer walkthrough times and more detailed storytelling than a typical HHN house, giving guests the chance to actually absorb the scares, not just run screaming past them (though you’re welcome to do that too).

More Than Just Mazes: Food, Drinks, and Atmosphere
Horror seeps into every crevice of the experience, even the bar. Signature food and beverage options are themed to their zones, with one location, The Boiler, serving as a fully story-integrated bar space. Think immersive cocktails, twisted snacks, and decor pulled straight from the vaults of Universal’s horror past.
And of course, there’s merch. Exclusive collectibles tied to both the haunted houses and the lore of the Shadow World will be available only at Universal Horror Unleashed.
