Walt Disney World Rides Height Requirements: Is My Child Tall Enough?

One of the most frequently asked questions for anyone planning on visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando is usually, “Is my child tall enough to ride the Walt Disney World rides?”.  The short answer is “Yes and No”.  Understandably many guests are concerned their younger children will not have as many opportunities.  That’s not the case!  There are so many things younger children can enjoy, such as Character Meet and Greets, Parades, Snacks, and many rides!

The Walt Disney World rides and attractions are usually the highlight to many guests who visit the Walt Disney World Parks and they want their whole family to enjoy them as well!  But, what rides can my family go on?

Walt Disney World is geared for ALL ages who attend!  So, when we said the short answer is “Yes and No” that is due to the fact that the Walt Disney World rides are geared for all ages as well.  There are a few rides that the youngest park goers can not ride, but there are many they can!  However, keep in mind if they are not quite tall enough yet, don’t force it!  They will be tall soon enough, which will allow you to continue to create those family members for you and your children as well.  It’s also a good excuse for reasons on why you need to go back, if you need one that is!

Here we will take a closer look at the rides available to each park and the restriction associated with each park.  This list only includes those that are considered “rides” and does not consist of other attractions, such as interactive shows, etc.

What if you have multiple party members who are tall enough to ride the Walt Disney World rides but one or two who are not?  You can still enjoy the rides!  Disney has this amazing thing called “Rider Swap” that families can utilize when riding the rides and it is simple to use!  As a group approach the cast member in front of the ride.  If you are going in stand-by you would approach this cast member or if you have a fast pass you would approach that cast member.  Show the cast member you have young children and ask to utilize rider swap.  The cast member will then hand you a pass, DO NOT LOSE THIS!  Once you have completed the ride you will hand it to your waiting party who will be riding next.  The guests will then need to hand it back to the cast member before entering.  Ta-da!  You have just successfully utilized a rider swap!
