WandaVision

It’s been over a year since we saw the previous entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the next chapter is coming soon! The Disney+ series WandaVision is set to launch next week. We’re certainly excited to see the triumphant return of these two Avengers!

Marvel Studios’ new series “WandaVision,” which premieres January 15, 2021, exclusively on Disney+. “WandaVision” is a blend of classic television inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) play two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives who begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. The show’s director is Matt Shakman; Jac Schaeffer is head writer.

So far, the premise of the show is still a mystery. For instance, how did Vision return? What led to Wanda and Vision living in a bizarre suburban environment? There’s certainly more to the story, but we’ll have to wait and see the series unfold.

Heading into new territory

One of the best things about this series is that it will put the spotlight on two characters who previously filled only supporting roles. We finally see them taking charge with new adventures outside of the Avengers team.

Return of other MCU characters

Not much has been shared about the new WandaVision series coming to Disney+, but thanks to the series trailer we do know that a grown up Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) will be making her appearance in the show. We last saw Monica as a child at the end of Captain Marvel, but this will be the first iteration of the character as a full grown adult.

Thanks to leaked photos online from the film set, we know that Monica Rambeau now works with or for Sentient World Observation and Response Department (S.W.O.R.D.), the counter-terrorism and intelligence agency and counterpart to S.H.I.E.L.D., alongside Agent Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp (Randall Park). Though it has yet to be confirmed, a S.W.O.R.D. run spaceship is likely the location we last saw Nick Fury in the MCU who was also featured in Captain Marvel and would know Monica quite well at this point in time.

Coming Soon to Disney+

The Series will star Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis, from Thor), Randall Park (Agent Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and The Wasp), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel), and Kathryn Hahn, in an unannounced role. Rumored to be appearing in the series is Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

  1. Am I the only one who thinks this series will be really bad?
I love both characters in the MCU movies, but the commercials for this show make it look very weak.
