Disney100 20/20

100 Years of Disney. It is hard to believe that Walt Disney made his dreams a reality 100 years ago. Since then, the company has branched off in many different areas but remains dedicated to the core ideas that Walt Disney had. The Disney Company has always emphasized various core values but they all stem from what Walt was truly passionate about – pushing forward, innovating, and making memories. ‘Disney 100: A Century of Dreams’ which is available on Hulu and Disney+ delves into those core values by starting from the top – introducing the story of Walt and how he managed to make his dreams a reality.

Check out our reasons why we believe you should watch this documentary below!

Why You Should Watch: Disney 100: A Century of Dreams 1
  • A Word from Walt: If you love Disney and you love a documentary – you may recognize quite a few clips that will be shown in this film. It is entirely essential to hear from the man himself where he dreamt this company could go. Clips of his love and enthusiasm for all things innovation grounds the entire documentary and shows that Walt always had a love of big ideas – and the company decides to go with that in a big way.
  • The Rabbit Gets His Credit: Mickey is definitely the heart of the company but Oswald the Lucky Rabbit gets his time to shine as Walt’s first brainchild and passion. There’s something nice about the Disney Company having the rights to Oswald and can talk about how Walt’s original loss of him pushed him to create the Mickey we know so very well.

  • Familiar Faces: As to not give away too much, there are plenty of Disney Icons that may not normally make documentary stops but do here. Your heart is sure to warm when you see 95-year-old Richard Sherman take his seat at Walt’s piano to play ‘Feed the Birds’, Walt’s favorite song. Plenty more legends make their appearance so make sure not to miss it!
  • The Love of Disney: This documentary really is a tribute to how much Disney has grown. How it began as an animation house but has turned into something so much more. The company continues to go through hard times coupled with times of growth – and this growth takes the center stage in this documentary.

We hope you take the time out and spend an hour watching this documentary. There has so much that has happened over the past 100 years for the company, and it will always tie back to Walt! Let us know what you thought about the documentary in the comments below!
