Question: I just booked a Disney Cruise and as I am doing more research, I keep reading about Fish Extenders. What are they?
Answer: Fish extenders are a super fun way to share small gifts with other cruisers aboard the Disney Cruise Line, especially families traveling with kids. This swap is totally optional, but, it adds an extra dose of magic to your trip!! Each stateroom has a small silver fish or seahorse to the right or left of the door. Usually these hooks are used for correspondence from the cruise line, but, those wishing to participate in a fish extender hang a bag or special holder to act as a mailbox.
As for gifts, things that are crowd pleasers include Disney themed hair accessories, magnets to decorate stateroom doors, bubbles, glow sticks (awesome for Pirate Night!), games, nail accessories, beach items, water bottles and flashlights- just to name a few!
To find a Fish Extender group for your trip, I encourage you to visit the YMBADA Cruisers Facebook Page! Here you will also be able to find some great ideas to personalize your Fish Extender. Groups are forming all the time to share in the fun. And if you don’t have your cruise booked yet, I’d love to help you find the perfect one for your family.
