One question that always comes up when planning a Disney vacation is “what are the best days of the week to visit the parks?” While we could argue that any day at Disney is a good day, there are certain days for each park that are better than others. Everyone wants their Disney vacation to go as smoothly as possible. Some advanced planning can definitely help guests navigate the parks. This is especially important now that guests are utilizing both genie plus and individual lightning lanes to avoid long lines. So what days are the best to visit each park? Let’s break it down!
First, it’s essential to know about the special extra magic half-hour available to Disney resort guests. This extra half hour will give Disney resort guests extra time to ride their favorite attractions before the park opens to everyone. This extra magic half-hour is very convenient because it applies to every park-not just one! Plan to arrive early and get in line for the attraction that has the longest wait times. You can keep up with wait times by checking the My Disney Experience app. You can find the list of resort hotels that offer the extra magic half-hour here.
If at all possible, try to avoid large holidays or large breaks from school. Spring break and winter break tend to be very busy. Holiday weekends can also get very crowded.
Now let’s look at each park…
Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park
Since Magic Kingdom is the park many tend to think of as their must-do park, we will start there. Mondays tend to be very busy days at Magic Kingdom. We can guess this is due to the travel schedule of families arriving Sunday or Monday. We have found that Tuesday is usually the best day to visit Magic Kingdom Park. If Tuesday does not work for your traveling party, we suggest Thursday, Wednesday, or Sunday (in that order).
Disney’s EPCOT Park
It is important to factor in festivals that may be taking place when visiting EPCOT. For instance, a Saturday during EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival can get extremely busy. This goes for all of the festivals. Saturday just tends to be a very busy park day in general. We have found Mondays and Wednesdays to be the least busy days at EPCOT.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park
Hollywood Studios has consistently had the longest attraction wait times and been the hardest park pass reservation to obtain. Due to this, we recommend trying to avoid this park on weekends. Try to book your Hollywood Studios park pass for Tuesday or Thursday.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park
We have found that Fridays and Sundays tend to be good days to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While both Pandora attractions can still have wait times reaching 90 minutes or more, they are much more manageable. Saturdays and Mondays tend to be the busiest days.
Be sure to utilize a park crowd calendar and the My Disney Experience app for accurate crowd levels and wait times. With a little bit of planning, you should be able to ride all of your favorite attractions during your next Disney vacation!
