Question: Should I bring cash, credit cards or foreign currency on a Disney Cruise?
Answer: All transactions aboard the Disney Cruise Line are in US Dollars. If you are in port in the Bahamas, Caribbean and Mexico, US Dollars and major credit cards are widely accepted. You really won’t need to carry much cash, if any at all. For cruises to Europe and the Mediterranean, it’s recommended to bring traveler’s checks to the ports to exchange for local currency.
One location that you may encounter that requires cash is the Post Office on Castaway Cay.
On-board the Disney cruise ships, there is a cash-free system. For example, when you arrive at the Disney Cruise Line Terminal at Port Canaveral, your signature will be requested at check-in. At this time, you may also provide a major credit card, which will give you charging privileges throughout the ship. Any purchases on the ship, including beverage services, spa and salon services, photography, medical and laundry services, purchases from the retail shops, gratuities (unless already pre-paid), and some additional services, must be charged to your room.
Before you disembark the ship, you must settle your charges at Guest Services. The charges can be settled via cash, personal check, travelers checks, Disney gift cards or the credit card you used at check-in. If you are using a personal check, be prepared to present a valid US Driver’s License and Major Credit Card.
The Disney Cruise Line makes it super convenient to enjoy your trip, in a hassle-free way. If you haven’t booked your first (or repeat!) sailing, now is the time!
