What rides can I go on when I am pregnant at Disney?

To answer in short… almost anything!

After our first family trip to Disney World we loved it so much we began immediately planning another trip for the following year. We even called and booked it on our drive home! Then, a few months later we had a BIG surprise, I found out I was expecting our third child who was due right around our planned trip.

At first we thought about cancelling our vacation, but that made us too sad to think about, so we cut our trip down a little and rescheduled for an earlier date. I ended up at Disney when I was 8 months pregnant in August, and I had a blast!

My main concern with going was, what would I be able to do? It turns out there is tons of stuff that a pregnant woman can do at Disney World, so much that it is actually easier to list the rides to avoid. When I spoke with a Disney cast member, she recommended that expectant mothers avoid any ride that has a height requirement, but I do have to advice that if you are pregnant and going to Disney World you should speak with your doctor since each situation is different.

Here is a list of the rides that are recommended for expectant mothers to skip on their Disney World trip:

Magic Kingdom

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Splash Mountain
  • The Barnstormer
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Space Mountain
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Astro Orbiter

Epcot

  • Mission Space
  • Test Track
  • Soarin

Hollywood Studios

  • Star Tours
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Animal Kingdom

  • Expedition Everest
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Dinosaur
  • Primeval Whirl

I was advised to think twice about going on the Mad Tea Party (because of the spinning) and Kilimanjaro Safaris (because it is bumpy). After my own research, I did go on both rides and did not have a problem, however, if you get dizzy easily than I would recommend avoiding Mad Tea Party and possibly Astro Orbiter.

Each park also has shows that are a perfect break for an expectant mother to watch while taking a break. So, please don’t avoid Disney World when you are pregnant, there is plenty for you to do. Remember to take breaks, drink plenty of water, and consult with your physician before leaving home… and then enjoy your magical vacation!
