What You Need to Know Before You Go to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Are you heading to Disneyland Resort this summer? With the opening just a few days away, here’s what you need to know before you go to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!

1.) Reservations are required to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge between May 31 and June 23.

If you are planning to visit Disneyland Resort during this time, you will need a reservation to enter the new land, in addition to valid theme park admission.  You can check in for your reservation up to two hours prior at Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland. You will then be directed to go to the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when your reservation begins. You must bring your reservation confirmation (including QR code), government-issued ID, and your entire party with you when you check in.

2.) You can still get a reservation to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge by staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel between May 31 and June 23.

If you are staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels between May 31 and June 23, you will receive a designated reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during your stay. There will be one reservation given per guest and valid theme park admission is required. It is important to note that there will one reservation per registered guest and if the resort reservation is canceled, the reservation to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will also be canceled.

3.) There will be no standby line for guests to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from May 31 to June 23.

Guests with reservations will be the only ones permitted to enter the land during this time.

4.) If you plan to visit on opening day, there is no need to come early if you have a reservation.

Guests will be permitted to start checking in for their reservations two hours ahead of time. Guests will be allowed to begin parking at select parking lots starting at midnight.

5.) After June 23, reservations will no longer be required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Disneyland Resort will implement a virtual queuing system, as needed, to allow guests to visit the new land and still enjoy the rest of the park. The Disneyland app will have a designated section, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Status and Access. Guests can use the app to request to join a boarding group, which will give them access to the new land. Guests can then view the status of the boarding groups and notifications will also be sent when it is time to visit the land.

For those not using the mobile app, there will be select locations throughout the park where guests can request to join a boarding group. There will be signs throughout the park displaying boarding group status.

The boarding group that you join will be linked to “admission media” that will be scanned at the entrance to the land. Please note, entrance into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will continue to be based on capacity and having a boarding group does not guarantee that you will be permitted to enter.

6.) The current Disneyland Resort costume policy will be in effect.

Costumes are not permitted for guests who are 14 years of age and older. Disney bounding, or dressing in outfits inspired by favorite characters, is permitted.

7.) The Disneyland mobile app is an important resource to help you plan and prepare for your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Downloading the Disneyland mobile app prior to your visit will help you stay up-to-date with all things Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Using the app, you can check on wait times for attractions, locate character meet and greets, and even use mobile ordering to explore the dining options!

8.) The Play Disney Parks mobile app is a great way to become even more immersed in this new land.

The Play Disney Parks app will allow guests to become even more engaged with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Using the app, guests can explore the planet of Batuu by interacting with droids, translating Aurebesh, and more. Guests can even collect virtual items by scanning cargo crates and other containers throughout the land.

9.) The goal at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is to provide a great guest experience.

Steps have been taken to make the whole experience of visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge a wonderful one for all guests. For example, if you are waiting in line to ride the newest attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, you will be able to purchase snacks, have fun interactions with cast members, use the restroom if needed, and play an in-queue game using the Pay Disney Parks app. Having these options will help to make waiting fun and interactive.

There is so much to look forward to in this much-anticipated new land! With some planning and preparation, guests are sure to enjoy every aspect of this fully-immersive experience. What are you most looking forward to?
