Question: What’s the difference between Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resorts?

Answer: The biggest difference in these two gorgeous resorts is the theming and location. Opened in 1990, they are considered “sister resorts” as they are literally next door neighbors. They even share a 3 acre water attraction and pool area called Stormalong Bay, which is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment to be completed Spring 2015. The Yacht Club is designed to look like a grand New England style yacht club. The theming is beautiful and detailed, of course. The Beach Club is modeled after a Martha’s Vineyard club. The look is fairly similar in that respect, which is how the resorts are often confused with one another.

Because the resorts are so close together they share amenities such as the main pool area and dining. Just across Crescent Lake you can see Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. They are situated within walking distance to Epcot, you heard that right, walking distance! There is a path that will lead you right into the World Showcase! You are also very close to Hollywood Studios. You can walk if the extra activity doesn’t bother you or take a boat ride over. These resorts put you right next to the action. You are also so close to the Boardwalk and The Swan and Dolphin you will have a host of amenity options at your Mickey loving finger tips.

Some of the dining options on site include Yachtsman Steakhouse with steaks, seafood and a more family oriented atmosphere even for signature dining. You can also find the Cape May Café buffet style character dining and the famous Beaches and Cream Soda Shop. This soda shop is a retro style casual dining option that is the home of the legendary Kitchen Sink ice cream sundae- 8 scoops and covered in every topping they make!

When requesting a room if you have the desire to see fireworks from Epcot’s IllumiNations show you’d be better off at the Beach Club and requesting a room on the Epcot side of the resort. Another nice option is sitting on the beach to take in the sights. Both resorts offer quiet pools if you aren’t in the mood to be surrounded by activity in the sand bottomed pool of Stormalong Bay. If you are feeling competitive go play a round at Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Mini Golf.

The biggest difference that might affect your choice is this: Yacht Club is closer to the boat dock to take you to Boardwalk and Hollywood Studios while Beach Club is a shorter walk to Epcot and you have better chances of viewing fireworks from your room. Other than that both resorts offer a lot to their guests! Which will it be for you?
