Q: Will Walt Disney World hold any special events to celebrate the opening of Rouge One: A Star Wars Story on December 16th?
A. Last year when The Force Awakens premiered, Disney World pulled out all the stops and threw a galactic celebration that certainly did the Star Wars fans proud. Though we here in the Disney-sphere are optimistic that something similar will take place when Rouge One comes out net month, at the moment Disney has not made any official announcements regarding opening night activities. That being said, the Disney rumor mill is definitely abuzz with suggestions that Disney will again delight fans with a late-night Rouge One celebration.
Back in September we ran an article on our sister-site Chip and Co with details released by several Disney insiders. The rumor is that Disney will call the event “Star Wars Galactic Nights” and that it will follow in the footsteps of last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening night party which would mean it would be a hard-ticketed event providing after-hours access to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (which during The Force Awakens release stayed open until 2am).
Last year’s event included an early evening movie première held at AMC Disney Springs 24. Immediately following was a launch party held at Hollywood Studios. Activities on offer during this late night event included access to Star Wars Launch Bay as well as Star Tours. There was also a dance party and a late-night Star Wars fireworks display.
Those this year’s event has yet to be confirmed, the prices to attend last year’s exclusive party were $94.00 for guests opting for the 2D experience, $98 for those going for 3D and $100 for 3D ETX.
Here at Disney Addicts we are constantly on the lookout for updated Rogue One info. Guests are encouraged to check back for the latest updates on this exciting opportunity for Star Wars fans both young and old.
