Since 1994, there have been 18 Live-Action remakes of Disney classics. Now while some may hate a recreation of their favorite animated classics, many seem to love the trend. So much so, that Disney currently has 16 remakes that are in the works! Whilst some are soon to be released, others are still in the pre-production phase and are just getting started. So, with that being said – check out the list below and see if your animated classic is ready for a remake!
- The Little Mermaid (May 26th, 2023)
- This live-action reimagining has 1989’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ fans excited beyond belief! Halle Bailey will be playing Ariel – and with that magical voice, we can’t wait to see what she brings to one of our favorite Disney Animated Films soundtracks.
- Peter Pan & Wendy (2023)
- Okay, so there is no official release date for Peter Pan & Wendy! All we do know is that Disney has officially confirmed the release year as ‘2023’! We cannot wait for the newest Peter Pan tale!
- Snow White (March 22, 2024)
- Directed by Marc Webb, and featuring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot? Color us intrigued! We have to wait a bit longer for more details since this film is set to drop in March 2024!
- Mufasa: The Lion King (July 5th, 2024)
- Berry Jenkins will be directing this prequel. It’s fair to assume that we will be learning a lot quite a bit about the origins of how Mufasa became a legacy.
