Fall is almost here and that means leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice everything, and crisp evenings. For some, Fall might also mean a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! Fall is a great season to visit the parks, especially this year. Lower crowd levels, fun events, and new ride openings are just a few reasons to visit Disney World this Fall. Let’s explore all of the Fall fun that awaits.
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
This year the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival started early this year, but it will still be going strong through the Fall months. This year’s festival is the longest in park history. There are over 20 global marketplaces for guests to grab a bite and/or a drink. This is a great time to eat and drink around the World.
Lower Crowds
Crowds at Disney World are exceptionally low right now due to capacity limits and people not traveling much due to COVID-19. We expect crowds to stay low through September now that schools are back in session (even though most are virtual) and there is only one main holiday before October.
Enjoyable Weather
Florida is HOT and HUMID in the summer. Visiting theme parks where you are walking outside a lot can be very uncomfortable when it’s hot. Once you start getting into October and November, the weather in Florida becomes much more enjoyable. The days remain warm but bearable, and the nights are cool. You might even want to bring a light jacket with you for the evenings.
Fabulous Seasonal Decor
Visiting Disney World is magical but for some reason, it always feels even more magical when the parks are decked out in seasonal decor. Fall leaf Mickey wreaths, jack-o-lanterns, and pumpkin-head scarecrows pop up everywhere along Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. This year Fall decor will be up from September 15 to October 31. Christmas decorations should go up soon after!
Tasty Seasonal Treats
One of my favorite reasons to visit Disney parks as an adult is for the food! Fall is one of the best times to get a tasty seasonal treat. Disney World serves up seasonal, sweet, and savory flavors across all of its properties. You can see a full lineup of this year’s seasonal offerings here.
New Openings
While there aren’t any set Fall opening dates for new rides or attractions, some attractions opened just before the COVID-19 closure so they are still new to most guests. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened just a week before the closures were announced. At EPCOT, Regal Eagle Smokehouse, Canada: Far and Wide, the Beauty and the Beast singalong show and Awesome Planet are all recent additions.
Also at EPCOT, the highly anticipated Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was originally supposed to open summer 2020 but was delayed due to the closure. Construction has continued so we might see a Fall or even Winter opening date for this attraction.
