2018 Walt Disney World vacation packages came out today and if there’s one change that has people buzzing it is the news that yes! -Disney will include boozy beverage options as part of the Disney Dining Plans in 2018 for those visitors over the age of 21.
Insiders started speculating on this change several weeks ago when alcoholic options started cropping up in Value Resort food courts and with rumors swirling that a similar option was already a being unveiled to visitors from the UK who had booked their 2018 stays. Well the speculation is now over and with the release of 2018 packages today Disney has made it official.
So does this mean I’m going to paying a lot more for the dining plan? It’s important to note that year on year there is almost always a Disney Dining price increase. 2018 is no different. The new rates will go into effect starting January 1, 2018 and the increases are as follows: (the prices are per night stay)
Disney’s Quick Service Dining Plan: The adult prices rose to $52.50 up from last years $48.19. The children’s (age 3-9) rate rose to $21.74 from last year’s $20.88
Disney’s Base Dining Plan: The cost for the adult plan is now $75.49 from last year’s rate of $69.35. The child plan has gone up to $25.75 from $24.95
Disney’s Deluxe Dining Plan : The cost of the adult deluxe plan has risen to $116.25 from last year’s $106.68. For children the 2018 rate is $39.99 where last years was $38.75
What sort of alcohol is included in the meal plan? A single-serving alcoholic drink could include any of the following: beer, cider, wine, sangria, mixed drinks, specialty cocktails. Guests should note that some exceptions may apply and that all Guests 21 and older wishing to drink must prevent a valid ID at the time of purchase.
Is alcohol available under all of the dining plans? Yes. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased under each of the dining plan at both Quick Service and Table Service locations.
But I’m not a drinker so why should I pay more? So though the primary focus of these new dining plan changes was on the alcohol, Disney also opened up the plan to include specialty beverages as well, taking into account that not everyone is a drinker. This means that guests under the age of 21 or those not drinking can choose to have one of the following options during mealtimes and have them covered under the plan. These include: Artisanal Milkshakes, Sodas, coffees, teas, premium hot chocolate and smoothies.
Since 2018 packages just went on-sale, we aren’t sure whether this new announcement regarding alcohol will bring on a host of other changes including updated menus or whether booze will soon become available at the Magic Kingdom. Readers should keep checking back for the latest in 2018 news and updates.
