You have been planning your Disneyland Resort vacation for months! One detail that is often put off until the end is transportation. So how are you going to get from the airport to the “Happiest Place on Earth” and does Disneyland provide transportation?
Regardless of if you are staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel or one of the local Good Neighbor Hotels, there are 3 options that you can pre-book and pay for ahead of time as part of your Disneyland vacation package: Disneyland Resort Express (motorcoach), shuttle van, and rental car. Disneyland does not provide complimentary transportation to or from the local airports. Follow along as I break down your options.
Disneyland Resort Express
This service is provided by Coach USA (not Disney). This option is available for guests arriving at or departing from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and John Wayne Airport (SNA). You can purchase round trip, one way, or even arrive at one airport and depart at the other. Wheelchair service is available.
The motorcoach stops at all 3 Disneyland Resort Hotels and most of the Good Neighbor Hotels. For some of the Good Neighbor Hotels, you may have to walk to another bus stop for drop off and pick up. For example, if you are staying at the Candy Cane Inn it is a 2-minute walk to the Orange County Transportation Authority bus stop across the street in front of the Subway Deli or 10 minutes to OCTA Bus Stop in between Travelodge Int’l and Best Western Raffles.
John Wayne Airport (SNA)
If you are arriving at the John Wayne Airport (SNA) to get to the Disneyland Resort Express you will exit baggage claim, head over to the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), located on the lower level in the center of the East Parking Structure. You will be picked up in front of the ticket booth located to the left.
Departure times from SNA are 8:30 am, 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm 3:30 pm, 4:45 pm, 5:45 pm, and 7:00 pm. Motorcoaches depart hourly from the Disneyland Hotel to SNA at half past the hour starting at 6:30 am to 5:30 pm.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is closer to the Disneyland Resort area, at about 13 miles away. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Reservations are not required but recommend. Cost for adults one way is $20 and children ages 3 – 11 is $7. Adult round trip costs $35 and children ages 3 – 11 is $11.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
If you are arriving at LAX to get to the Disneyland Resort Express you will exit the baggage claim area. Then you can board underneath the green signs (Flyaway, Buses, Long Distance Vans) in front of each terminal. Pick up begins at Terminal #1 and takes about 5 minutes to get to the next terminal all the way through #7. Travel time is approximately 1 hour once they have picked up at Terminal #7.
Departure times from LAX – Terminal 1 are at 7:50 am, 8:50 am, 9:50 am, 10:45 am, 11:45 am, 12:45 pm, 1:45 pm, 2:45 pm 3:45 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 8:00 pm. Motorcoaches depart hourly from the Disneyland Hotel to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at the top of the hour from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (except 5:00 PM).
Reservations are not required but are recommended. Adults one way cost $30 and children ages 3 – 11 are $9. Adult round trip is $48 and children ages 3 – 11 are $14.
Disneyland Resort Express Baggage Policy
Passengers are responsible for seeing that their baggage is loaded or unloaded. Up to two bags and one carry-on per person will be transported at your own risk and must not weigh more than 50 pounds each.
Shuttle Van
Door to door shuttle service is provided by Karmel Shuttle. This is a shared 9-passenger van. The shuttle service is available between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Orange County Airport (SNA) and Long Beach Airport (LGB) and the Disneyland Resort Hotels as well as Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels.
This is a more personalized transportation option, but it is more expensive than the motorcoach. Wheelchair-accessible vans are available. If you are traveling with children that require a car seat you are required to bring it and install it in the shuttle van.
After you have arrived at the airport and picked up your luggage, you will call a toll-free number. You will provide your confirmation number or last name on the reservation. Dispatch will instruct you where to stand and what vehicle number will be pulling up for you. Once you call, the wait time for your driver may range from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on airport traffic, security, weather or flight delays.
Rental Car
You can rent a vehicle through Alamo. This option provides you with the most convenience and flexibility for transportation. This is also a great option if you are wanting to visit other Southern California attractions while on vacation. You can also add on a child and/or infant car seat for an additional cost.
Please keep in mind that at all 3 Disneyland Resort Hotels you have to pay for parking. Self-parking is $25 per night, per vehicle and valet service is $35 per night, per vehicle. Most Good Neighbor Hotels also charge for parking. Make sure to check with yours for specific costs.
