Holiday Resorts

There is just something so special about visiting the most magical place on Earth during the most wonderful time of the year! From the festive holiday decor found throughout the parks to the special events and shows, there is just so much to see and experience. While Disney is known for going all-out with park decorations, some would say it is the Disney Resort Hotels that actually steal the show. Resort hopping is a popular activity for guests wishing to see all the magic at the most iconic Disney Resorts during the holiday season. Here we will take a look at our top 5 Disney Resort Hotels to visit during Christmas.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort- Disney’s Beach Club is a deluxe resort located within walking distance to Epcot’s International Gateway, which means staying here will get you really close to Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays. Even if you are not staying at this resort, the massive gingerbread carousel put on display in the lobby is definitely worth a visit to see. The carousel uses 100 pounds of icing, 36 pounds of honey, 50 pounds of dark chocolate, 96 pounds of bread flour and 100 pounds of sugar to create! The carousel is completely edible, although we don’t recommend taking a bite! It is truly a masterpiece and a very impressive creation!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds- At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds, it is the guests who make most of the magic by decorating their campsites, tents, RVs, and trailers with decorations, lights, inflatables and more. The resort also offers a “sleigh ride” through the grounds every night from 5:30-9:30 pm and transforms the popular Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show by adding a Christmas theme.

Disney’s Animal kingdom Lodge-  Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is generally known for its breathtaking savanna views complete with wild animals, but at Christmastime, this deluxe resort offers an even more impressive view right in the main lobby. The resort lobby erects a four-story Christmas tree complete with African ornaments such as musical instruments and African masks. There are also several smaller trees located throughout the resort. It is one of the most beautiful Christmas displays you will see at Disney.

Christmas

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort is the perfect resort to invoke that Christmas spirit. From the log-cabin feel to the rocking chairs and fireplaces, you will feel as though you just stepped into a Christmas card when you visit this resort. The lobby boasts a magnificent four-story Christmas tree decorated with Native American style ornaments. The feel of this resort is just so welcoming and warm, it is definitely a must-see at Christmastime.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort- It is only fitting that the resort that boasts the title of Disney World’s “signature hotel” would go above and beyond for the holiday season. The lobby is home to a massive five-story Christmas tree fully decorated with Victorian ornaments, but the tree is not the star of the show. The real main sight to behold is the huge, life-size gingerbread house. The gingerbread house is 14 feet tall and this year took 1,050 pounds of honey, 140 pints of egg whites, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 700 pounds of chocolate, 800 pounds of flour, 35 pounds of spices and an entire culinary team to create! There are also 21 hidden Mickeys throughout the creation. If the smells and sights of the iconic gingerbread house have you feeling hungry, not to worry, the gingerbread house also serves as a snack stand with delicious treats for sale! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is one you will definitely want to spend some time in if you are visiting Disney during Christmastime.
