Disney recently announced new exciting changes are coming for Jungle Cruise at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom Park!
The update will include a continuous story, updated scenes, colorful new characters and more! All of this in order to reflect and value the diversity of the world around us.
Here are some of the scenes they will be updating:
First we have the rhino pole scene with the explorers, there are a lot of details that are not explained in the current scene like where they came from? do they have a backstory? Well this will be answered in the new update.
Now each of them will have their own story and cultural heritage, there will be a birdwatcher, an entomologist, a wildlife painter and a photographer and each of them will have a different reason for being on the expedition.
The imagineers will also add an animatronic skipper who’s been chased up the pole by the rhino along with the rest of the explorers!
But wait what happened to the explorers boat? Where is it? Well the boat has been beached upon some rocks and invaded by chimpanzees. The attraction didn’t have any chimps so it just felt right to add them to the story.
The idea is to have the animals having the last laugh. The chimpanzees have taken over the boat and are making fun of the us, with one wearing a skipper’s hat and on the microphone, another one has a map and looks like she is reading it, and there’s even a little one messing with paint everywhere!
Former Disney CEO Bob Iger also shared his thoughts on these new changes coming to Jungle Cruise:
“The exciting changes we’re making to one of Disney’s most popular classic attractions, Jungle Cruise, reflect our commitment to creating unparalleled experiences that reflect, not only the best in storytelling, but also the values and rich diversity of our world”
