There are so many exciting new things coming to Walt Disney World! With Disney constantly changing and evolving, it can be hard to keep track of everything new coming. While the pandemic definitely hindered progress and halted a few projects, it seems like things are starting to pick up again. There are so many big projects on the horizon, here are 5 we are super excited about!
The 50th Anniversary Celebrations
So this is probably the #1 out of all the exciting new things coming to Disney World! The celebration will begin October 1, 2021, and last for 18 months! We can expect lots of limited-edition merchandise, snacks, and of course plenty of surprises! Disney goes all out with celebrations and this one will be epic! We’ve already seen enhancements added to Cinderella Castle, and we are sure there will be more amazing decorations added throughout the parks. We are also so excited about the brand new nighttime shows coming to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, also starting October 1, 2021!
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
Star Wars fanatics rejoice! The highly anticipated fully immersive Star Wars hotel experience is finally opening in 2022! The experience will be a 2-night completely immersive adventure that puts guests right in the middle of their own Star Wars story! This will be a totally new and unique experience and we can’t wait to see it in person!
Space 220 Restaurant
One of the most exciting new things coming to EPCOT has to be the new Space 220 Restaurant. This isn’t just any ordinary restaurant, this restaurant (virtually) transports guests to a space station where the views are from 220 miles above up! Guests are even transported to the space station in a special space elevator! This new restaurant is part of the expansion of the Mission: SPACE pavilion. While we don’t have an exact opening date yet, we are hopeful it will be soon, as this was a project that was halted due to the pandemic.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
EPCOT is undergoing some huge renovations and reimagining. One of the most exciting new things coming to EPCOT has to be the brand new roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This thrilling new attraction is set to open in 2022. We already got a sneak peek at the unique ride vehicles and they are SO cool! The vehicles actually allow for 360-degree movement, so this won’t be just any ordinary roller coaster. This attraction will be located at the site of the old Universe of Energy Pavillion and be one of the largest indoor roller coasters in the world! Many guests are thrilled that EPCOT is adding another thrill ride.
The Return of the Disney Dining Plans
When I asked our readers what they missed more, the dining plan or FastPasses, they overwhelmingly chose the dining plan. Many guests like the ability to make their trip more all-inclusive and have meals paid for ahead of time. In fact, many families were waiting to book vacations until the dining plans returned. While we don’t have an exact date the plans will become available, Disney has said they will return “this year”. We will definitely keep our readers updated as soon as we have more information.
This list could go on and on because there are just so many exciting new things coming! One thing we love about Disney is that it is always changing and evolving, so guests always have something new to experience.
