Planning a Walt Disney World vacation can be overwhelming, especially with things constantly changing. There is so much to plan for genie +, Park Pass Reservations, and dining! Here is a guide to help you navigate your next magical vacation!
Consider Using a Disney Travel Agent
My first piece of advice is to seek out a Disney travel agent to help you navigate the process. Travel agents do not cost one penny more than booking the trip yourself, and will be on the lookout for any deals and discounts that might come up. Your travel agent can answer any questions you may have and explain things like Genie + and Individual Lightning Lane. We recommend Destinations to Travel for all of your Disney vacation needs!
Choose Your Resort Hotel
The first step in this guide is to book your Disney resort hotel. If you are using DVC points you will want to book around 11 months before your check-in date in order to have the best availability. It is always recommended to choose and book your hotel resort as early as possible. There are three different categories of resort hotels so it is important to figure out which category is right for your family.
Purchase Theme Park Tickets and Book Park Pass Reservations
After your hotel has been chosen it is time to add on park tickets and make park pass reservations. You will have to decide if your traveling party will want to park-hop and visit multiple parks per day, or just visit one park per day. Next, reservations must be made through My Disney Experience for the first park you would like to visit each day. Again, a travel agent can do all of this for you at no charge.
Advance Dining Reservations
Next in our guide is dining reservations. Advance dining reservations can be made 60 days before check-in using the My Disney Experience app. Some reservations can be very difficult to obtain, so it is important to try to book your dining as early as possible.
Transportation From the Airport to Your Resort
Next in the guide to planning your Walt Disney World vacation is reserving transportation from the airport to your resort. Now that Disney’s Magical Express service has permanently retired, guests must choose their own transportation. There are many options to choose from, including Mears Connect, The Sunshine Flyer, and Uber/Lyft. This transportation should be reserved a minimum of 4 days before your arrival.
Genie + and Individual Lightning Lane
Guests can purchase Genie + through the My Disney Experience app starting at 12 am on the day of their visit. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel can reserve their first Genie + selection as well as choose up to 2 Individual Lightning Lane selections starting at 7 am the day of their visit.
