Every Alice in Wonderland fan is familiar with this classic Disney song:
Statistics prove, prove that you’ve one birthday,
One birthday ev’ry year.
But there are three
Hundred and sixty four
That is why we’re gathered here to cheer.
A very merry unbirthday to you, to you!
The Mad Hatter and March Hare certainly celebrate “unbirthday” parties, but this week is different for their tea party. Why? Because they would be honoring the actual birthday of Walt Disney’s Alice in Wonderland animated movie!
Alice in Wonderland (1951)
The animated feature made its theatrical debut on July 28, 1951. It’s a cherished Disney film filled with colorful characters and delightful music.
The film takes audiences on a journey to a faraway land filled with magic and bizarre sights to behold. Of course, Alice meets many unique characters in her adventures. Below are some of our favorites!
- Mad Hatter
- Cheshire Cat
- Queen of Hearts
Alice in Wonderland at Disney Parks
Several of the iconic characters appear as meet and greet characters at Disney Parks. The Mad Hatter, Alice, and Queen of Hearts are some of the recognizable faces you’ll find at Disney. The movie has also inspired attractions found in Fantasyland at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom.
The Mad Tea Party is a spinning tea cup ride located in Fantasyland. The ride is considered an opening day attraction for both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. To many, it’s a classic attraction many symbolize with Disney Parks.
Additionally, those who go to Disneyland can experience two different Alice attractions. The “Alice in Wonderland” attraction is the only dark ride in any Fantasyland area that has an outdoor section that is elevated.Guests board a magic Caterpillar and go down the rabbit hole.
The ride culminates at the Unbirthday Party, where the Mad Hatter and the March Hare sing “A Very Merry Unbirthday to You.” The White Rabbit stands next to a giant unbirthday cake with a dynamite candle on top of it, shaking nervously. The cake explodes as the guests exit the scene and arrive at the unlod area to exit the caterpillar.
Of course, Alice in Wonderland has inspired many different forms of merchandise and collectibles. From Disney pins and character plushes, to apparel and toys. The world of Wonderland has charmed its way into the hearts of generations of fans!
If it’s been a while since you saw the animated film, then now is a great time to rewatch the movie. The animated film is currently available on Disney+ streaming service. Will you be watching Alice in Wonderland anytime soon?
