What is Disney After Hours at the Magic Kingdom?

After Hours

For those heading to Walt Disney World  this Summer, you may have noticed that on select nights, Magic Kingdom is showing extended hours for a special ticketed event dubbed Disney After Hours.  I have many clients travelling around this time that are either adjusting schedules around the event or considering getting tickets for the event.   For this reason, we here at Disney Addicts thought it would be helpful to provide you with this After Hours FAQ so that you can decide whether it would make a welcome addition to your Disney vacation.

What is Disney After Hours?  Disney After Hours is a special hard-ticketed event taking place on select evenings at the Magic Kingdom.  On After Hours nights, once the park has closed to the general public,  it remains open for 3 hours for the exclusive use of After Hours party guests. Because there are a select number of tickets available, it’s a great time to enjoy all Magic Kingdom has to offer without crazy lines and heaving crowds.

What are the Dates for Disney After Hours?

  • Thursday, June 28, from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.
  • Saturday, June 30, from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.

After Dark

Is It Worth It? What’s Included In the Price? Here’s a list of the perks that party guests will be able to enjoy during Disney After Hours.

Quick Access to Popular Attractions – The main draw for those opting to attend After Hours is the promise of being able to enjoy some of your favorite attractions without the long lines.  During the event, many of Magic Kingdom’s headlining attractions remain open, here is a list of some of the rides/attractions you’ll get to enjoy:

  • Astro Orbiter
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Disney Princess Greetings at Princess Fairytale Hall
  • Haunted Mansion
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain

Enjoy the Magic Kingdom Without the Crowds –  Disney World keeps a strict cap on the number of party guests that are able to attend an after-hours event. Because attendance is limited,  the park has a much more relaxed feel than during the daily hustle and bustle.

Early Park Entry With Your After Hours Ticket – A ticket to After Hours sort of serves like a PM Magic Kingdom park ticket and gains you full entry to the theme park.  As a perk, guests are allowed to enter the parks from 7pm meaning you still have time to enjoy the “Happily Ever After” fireworks display, squeeze in a ride or two or grab a quick bite before the party actually starts.

Snacks are Included With Your Admission – Select vendors and eateries will be offering complimentary snacks to party guests.  This includes ice cream novelties, select bottled drinks and popcorn at various locations throughout the parks.  In addition, select menu items will be available for purchase at Main Street Bakery and at other locations throughout the park.

What Will This Mean if I’m Visiting Magic Kingdom on an After Hours Night But I Don’t Have at Ticket? You’ll still be able to take advantage of everything that Magic Kingdom has to offer and the park will be open during normal seasonal hours.  The event is designed to take place after the park has closed.   However, it will mean that guests will be expected to leave promptly at closing and that Evening Extra Magic Hours will not be taking place on After Hours nights.

Is Disney After Hours Replacing Extra Magic Hours? No. Early Morning Extra Magic Hours are still being offered and even run on party days. Evening Extra Magic Hours will not run on the nights that After Hours is being held but they will still be offered at various times throughout the week on non-party nights.
