For those visiting Walt Disney World, sometimes Disney’s buses, boats and monorails just don’t cut it.  Whether it’s rushing to get to the parks for opening, heading to another Disney Resort for an evening meal or heading home after a night at Disney’s Boardwalk, it’s nice to be able to have door-to-door service without the lines and wait times. That’s where Disney’s Minnie Van service comes in! What started last year at only a select handful of Disney Resorts has now been expanded to encompass the 40 sq. ft Walt Disney World Resort area and more!  To show you just how useful this service can be, here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions about this colorful Disney-themed mode of transportation.

Where is the Service Currently Offered?  The Minie Vans are a relaxing and quick way to travel across Walt Disney Word including the 25+ resort hotels, the theme parks and water parks as well as Disney Springs.  Minnie Van service operates from 6:30 AM to 12:30 AM daily. Hours of operation are subject to change.

Can I use Minnie Vans to Get to and From the Airport? Yes. Minnie Van service airport shuttle transports guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel to and from Orlando International Airport (MCO.)  Hours of operation for the shuttle service is for flight arrivals 7am – 10pm and for flight departures from 9am – 12am.

How much does the service cost? There is one flat fee of $25 (not including tip)  to use the Minnie Van service in and around Walt Disney World Resort.  Depending on traffic, it can make it slightly more expensive than using a normal taxi service however the flat fee can also work to your advantage during peak periods when traffic is heavy.  Plus, you get to be whisked around in a red and white polka dotted car! Disney has not confirmed pricing yet for the Airport Shuttle Service but keep checking back as we promise to keep you updated.

How do I book?  – For Journeys around the Walt Disney World Resort Area:  Guests should book via the Lyft app. If you think you might be interested in using the service while you are a Disney World you’ll want to make sure that you have the app loaded onto your smartphone. This will mean you aren’t trying to download, create an account and log in right before a pickup.  If you run into any problems with being able to use the app stop by your resort front desk and they’ll be able to walk you through the process. For trips to Orlando International Airport: To reserve an airport shuttle, guest can call 407.WDW.PLAY.  This service is not available via Lyft.

Is there a wait? The several clients I’ve had that have used the service have said that the pick-up isn’t instantaneous like when hailing a cab that might already be on property but that a ride usually showed up in under 10 minutes.  However, guests should note that this can change during peak periods so always allow yourselves a bit of extra time if heading to a dining reservation or dinner show.

I’m traveling with a large family, how many people will the cars accommodate? The average Minnie Van can hold up to six guests making it perfect for slightly larger families and is equipped with 2 versatile car seats. The Minnie Van Airport Shuttle can hold up to six passengers and eight medium-sized suitcases. Up to three complimentary car seats can also be provided.

Are the vans handicapped accessible? There are a small number of accessible vans as part of the Minnie Van fleet. The vans are able to accommodate standard wheelchairs, motorized vehicles and electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs); however, an additional wait time may occur.

Who exactly is driving the car? I know sometimes families when visiting Disney are hesitant to use services like Uber or even taxis because you may be leery about who is driving you around.  However, with the Minnie Van service, there is peace of mind in knowing that the vehicles are manned by official Disney Cast Members. This means the service provided adheres to Disney’s strict customer service standards.

We here at Disney Addicts think that there’s a lot to love about the Minnie Van service and hope you’ll give it a go during your next visit to the Mouse!
