Calling all Haunted Mansion fans and Disney history buffs, we’ve got the perfect way to add a bit of extra fun to your Disneyland Halloween visit. Each year Disney offers a special Happiest Haunts Tour that delves into the spookier side of the theme park! Here’s everything you need to know about one of our favorite Halloween Disneyland must-do’s.
What’s covered in the Happiest Haunts Tour? This exciting evening experience is essentially a celebration of all-things Haunted Mansion with some ghost stories thrown in for good measure. Your tour guide will share with you some gripping tales of spooks, spirits, tricks and treats culminating in an encounter with one of the Haunted Mansions most familiar faces (but we don’t want to give too much away.) As one of Disneyland’s most iconic early attractions, the Haunted Mansion is steeped in history and you’ll learn loads about what makes this attraction so special. From happy haunts that didn’t make the cut to the art of the animatronics that make these ghoulish spectres seem so lifelike, it’s a wonderful opportunity to delve in the macabre Disney-style!
When is the tour an how long does it last? The tour takes place on evenings starting on September 7th and will run nightly at 5:00 pm. The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours. It is recommended that you show up at least 15 minutes before the tour is set to start.
Where does the tour depart from? Guests are to report to the Disneyland Tour Garden Kiosk. You’ll find it just to the left of City Hall as you enter the park.
How much does it cost? There is a flat fee of $85 per person for the tour. There is no separate children’s rate. Payment is due at the time of booking. Annual Passholders who book the Happiest Haunts Tour will receive a 15% discount. Guests should note that a valid Disneyland admission ticket is required to gain access to the park and the tour and must be purchased separately.
Is the tour suitable for young children? Because of the slightly spooky focus of the tour as well as the fact that there is a lot of walking and talking about Disney history, the tour is ideally suited for Tweens, Teens and Adults.
Are meals included in the tour? Historically the tour has included a pitstop for a complimentary sweet treat (usually a cookie.) However, larger meals and beverages are not included. Because of the length of the tour and the walking involved you may want to show up with a water or (if you’re like me) a Starbucks!
Do you get any special souvenirs on the Happy Haunts Tour? Anyone who has been on one of Disneyland’s amazing tours will tell you that Disney likes to throw fun surprises into the mix including a special keepsake or two. There is no word yet on what this year’s gifts might be. In year’s past, they handed out souvenir name tags, Haunted Mansion collectors pins and even FastPasses to ride the Haunted Mansion!
How do I book? Booking opens up 30-days in advance and is currently available for dates throughout the month of September. Bookings can be made by calling 714.781.TOUR. Full payment is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable.
Will the Tour Accept Walk-ups? If a tour isn’t already booked up, they will allow you to purchase your ticket on the day. However, with only one tour on offer a day, spots do tend to fill up quickly and advance booking is strongly recommended.
