Have you completed the Disney Cruise Line Grand Slam? What is that you ask? If you have sailed all four Disney ships – Dream, Fantasy, Magic, & Wonder you have completed the Grand Slam. If you haven’t, you’re running out of time!
Disney Cruise Line is expanding their fleet with 3 new ships set to sail in 2021, 2022, and 2023!
Disney’s Newest Ship
Here is an early rendering of the newest Disney ship! These new ships will stay in line with Disney’s elegance and romance of the golden age of cruising with their unique touches; such as yellow lifeboats (fun fact: Disney had to complete a series of tests for the Coast Guard to use the Mickey Yellow lifeboats instead of the standard bright orange color)! These new ships are promised to include even more innovation, technology, and entertainment than ever before!
These 3 new ships are expected to be approximately 140,000 gross tons and each is planned to have about 1,250 guest staterooms each.
Disney Cruise Line Current Fleet
To give you an idea of the size of these new ships, let’s take a closer look at the 4 ships that are currently in Disney’s fleet. Disney Cruise Line has two sets of sister ships that are nearly identical: The Magic and Wonder; Dream and Fantasy.
The Magic and Wonder underwent major reimagination in 2013 and now stand at 84,000 gross tons and have 875 staterooms. Where the Dream and the Fantasy are longer, wider, and heavier weighing in at 130,000 gross tons with 1,250 staterooms. You can see that these new ships will be in line with the Disney Dream and Fantasy terms of compacity and yet slightly larger.
This leaves you with 3 years to complete your Disney Cruise Grand Slam before you have to set a new goal. What do you think it should be called when you sail on all 7 of Disney Ships? The Heptagon Challenge?
