My Dear Port Orleans- French Quarter,
I think so many people under-estimate you as a fantastic resort choice for their Walt Disney World Vacation. It makes me so sad. I want to make sure people know all the amazing things that set you apart from every other moderate resort.
Sure, you have things that all the moderate resorts have. A beautiful gift shop, free Wi-Fi, Merchandise Delivery & Pick Up, and Laundry & Dry Cleaning. Like the other resorts, guests can use online check In and have access to the magical express along with the excellent free bus transport between Disney World parks, but there are many more things that set you apart.
Perhaps my favorite thing about you, dear French Quarter, is that you have only ONE BUS STOP resort instead of five bus stops like your big brother Port-Orleans Riverside! You’re so compact and easy to walk around. I can get to the pool with ease from any of your rooms and never miss out on your fabulous dining and lounge because they are too far away.
Speaking of your fabulous dining, your New Orleans style menu at Sassagoula Floatworks Food Court is the bee’s knees. I love your French Toast for breakfast and the omelets. For lunch and dinner, grabbing some gumbo, jambalaya, or shrimp & grits and po-boys makes my little southern heart leap for joy! Top it off with an order of Mickey-shaped beignets or some king cake for dessert, and I’m a happy woman.
I love that there are some other options for fun add-on activities like painting on de Bayou or the 1.5-mile Beignet Fun Run Sunday quick dash. I love that even though you are small, I can walk next door to Riverside and enjoy all of its benefits, including horse-drawn carriage rides, movies under the stars, campfire roasts, bike rentals, surrey bike rentals, and fishing.
And, of course, I adore your pool. The Doubloon Lagoon with its Mardi Gras Theme and 51 ft sea serpent water slide is so much fun for my kids and me. It’s a great way to cool down and relax after long, hard days of walking around the theme parks.
Although your rooms only fit four people, and with our completed adoption, we now are a family of six, I still love you. Any time it’s just a few of us traveling and not the entire crew, I promise to come and spend time with you. Hopefully, you’ll be able to add some suites soon and make it easier for my giant family to enjoy you all together.
Thank you for being exactly who you are, my sweet, sweet French Quarter, and I hope that more guests give you a chance and get to know you better for themselves.
With love,
Kristin
